The Real Estate Lending Executive will report to the Head of Market Coverage within Commercial Banking. This individual will set the vision and strategic direction for the underwriting and portfolio management function across the investment real estate segment for companies with portfolios ranging in size from $25 million to $2 billion, ensuring development and implementation of strategies that optimize risk assessment and portfolio performance while supporting business growth. This role requires a deep understanding of commercial real estate lending, evaluating credit risk across traditional and complex financing arrangements, market dynamics, financial analysis, and risk management principles.

In this role, you will:
- Develop vision and set direction for underwriting and portfolio management strategies across the investor real estate business segment aligned with organizational goals that ensure thorough risk assessment while supporting profitability.
- Provide thought leadership and direction to enhance underwriting frameworks across traditional cash flow and complex capital financing to improve efficiency and accuracy while driving growth and increasing market share across all segments.
- Drive the partnership across all Commercial Banking Cash Flow and Product Lending executives and Corporate Investment Banking Lending Executives to optimize effectiveness of the function.
- Oversee the underwriting process to ensure advice on capital structure optimization, debt issuance strategies and other tailored financial solutions comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Lead a team of managers and senior professionals to develop long-term strategies to monitor and manage credit risk associated with Commercial Banking lending activities.
- Review and approve traditional and complex capital structures, ensuring comprehensive risk analysis and adherence to bank policies.
- Collaborate with the relationship management organization, risk management team and key stakeholders to assess market trends and economic conditions to inform underwriting decisions.
- Monitor portfolio performance, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare and present regular reports on underwriting performance and portfolio metrics to senior management utilizing data analytics to inform decisions.
- Identify and implement process simplification opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce administrative burden on underwriting and portfolio management teams.
- Manage financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in Commercial Banking.
- Develop and guide a high performing culture focused on talent development and continuous learning to meet business objectives.
- 8+ years of Commercial Banking Portfolio Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 8+ years of commercial real estate lending, credit underwriting, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 4+ years of management experience
- Experience in commercial real estate lending inclusive of non- recourse loan structuring
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
