The Quality Manager is responsible for leading and strengthening the Quality organization by developing employees and frontline leaders, establishing clear accountability, improving quality performance, building customer confidence, and ensuring the department can support manufacturing, new product introduction, and business growth.

Leading through Supervisors, Leads, and Quality Engineers, the Quality Manager builds an approachable, decisive, and high-performing leadership culture grounded in clear communication, constructive conflict resolution, trust, and high standards. A key priority is to build capability—not dependency—so employees and leaders are equipped and empowered to solve problems effectively at the appropriate level.

People and Organizational Leadership

  • Coach and develop Quality Supervisors, Leads, Engineers, Inspectors, Programmers, and other quality professionals.
  • Establish clear priorities, responsibilities, performance expectations, and accountability throughout the department.
  • Strengthen leadership capability through feedback, delegation, development planning, and succession planning.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, ownership, customer focus, continuous improvement, and respect.
  • Address performance, organizational, and interpersonal issues promptly and constructively.
  • Ensure the department has the structure, talent, skills, equipment, and capacity needed to meet current and future business requirements.

Quality and Operational Performance

  • Provide leadership for Quality Engineering, Inspection, CMM Programming, Calibration, Supplier Quality, and related functions.
  • Establish departmental goals, KPIs, and operating rhythms; use data and trends to set priorities and allocate resources.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis and problem-solving tools, including root cause and corrective action (RCCA), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and statistical process control (SPC)
  • Improve customer quality, First Pass Yield, Cost of Poor Quality, scrap, rework, supplier performance, and corrective-action effectiveness.
  • Ensure significant issues receive disciplined root-cause analysis, sustainable corrective action, and appropriate follow-through.
  • Partner with Operations and Engineering to strengthen prevention and quality at the source, reducing reliance on inspection and containment.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the manufacturing floor and reinforce problem-solving at the appropriate organizational level.

Customer & Business Leadership

  • Ensure customer concerns are addressed with urgency, clarity, accountability, and effective communication.
  • Maintain visibility to significant customer issues and lead escalations when management involvement is required.
  • Build customer confidence through transparent communication, effective problem resolution, and reliable execution.
  • Balance customer expectations, quality requirements, operational needs, people considerations, risk, and business priorities.
  • Partner effectively with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Program Management, and executive leadership.
  • Oversee supplier quality performance in partnership with Supply Chain.
  • Present quality performance, risks, priorities, and improvement plans to executive leadership.
  • Establish annual Quality objectives aligned with company goals and serve as a change leader across the organization.

Quality System Support

  • Ensure Quality department activities conform to B&B’s Quality Management System and applicable customer, regulatory, and certification requirements.
  • Partner with the Business Systems Manager, who maintains the QMS, procedures, internal audit program, and AS9100 certification activities.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis and problem-solving tools, including root cause and corrective action (RCCA), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Support Management Review, customer audits, certification audits, corrective actions, and ongoing compliance initiatives.
  • Support applicable AS9100, ISO 9001, AS9102, NADCAP, ITAR, and DFARS requirements.
  • Reinforce consistent understanding and application of quality procedures, standards, and controls throughout the department and manufacturing operations.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in quality, manufacturing, engineering, operations, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of successful people-leadership experience, including developing supervisors, leads, or professional teams.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or similarly complex operating environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build teams, develop leaders, establish accountability, and improve organizational performance.
  • Proven success in managing complex customer, operational, or quality issues.
  • Experience using metrics and performance data to assess risk, manage teams, and drive improvement.
  • Strong business judgment and the ability to balance customer, quality, operational, people, and business priorities.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, organizational, and conflict-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, precision manufacturing, or another highly regulated industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Business, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, AS9102, or comparable quality management systems.
  • Lean Six Sigma, ASQ, or a related quality or continuous-improvement certification.
