At Relativity Space, we’re building rockets to serve today’s needs and tomorrow’s breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. But that’s just the start. Achieving commercial success with Terran R will unlock new opportunities to advance science, exploration, and innovation, pioneering progress that reaches beyond the known.

Joining Relativity means becoming part of something where autonomy, ownership, and impact exist at every level. Here, you're not just executing tasks; you're solving problems that haven’t been solved before, helping develop a rocket, a factory, and a business from the ground up. Whether you’re in propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, or a corporate function, you’ll collaborate across teams, shape decisions, and see your work come to life in record time. Relativity is a place where creativity and technical rigor go hand in hand, and your voice will help define the stories we’re writing together. Now is a unique moment in time where it’s early enough to leave your mark on the product, the process, and the culture, but far enough along that Terran R is tangible and picking up momentum. The most meaningful work of your career is waiting. Join us.

About the Team:

The Reliability team at Relativity Space ensures quality is built into every stage of the Terran R design and production process, embedding reliability from the very beginning. The team works directly with design, manufacturing, test, and launch teams to stay close to the hardware, understand constraints, and proactively shape decisions. As the program moves from development into production and scaled operations, this is the time to establish the right processes, controls, and inspections without slowing progress. The team plays a key role in balancing risk, fostering a culture of ownership, and making sure speed never comes at the cost of reliability. Success means creating a quality system that scales with the Terran R program and Relativity as a whole.

This is a 1st shift position with a standard schedule of 5:00AM-3:30PM, Monday through Friday. Please note that this position is structured around a baseline expectation of a 50-hour workweek, which may include occasional overtime as needed to meet operational goals.

About the Role:

  • Conduct thorough inspections (in-process and final) on propulsion components, large structures and mechanical assemblies
  • Use precision hand tools to perform dimensional inspections on flight hardware
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development and implementation of quality initiatives within the organization
  • Diligently review all hardware requirements and determine pass/fail status, documenting outcomes and any non-conformances or deviations found
  • Take closeout photos of large integrated assemblies upon completion of final walkdowns
  • Use borescopes to perform FOD inspections on machined parts or other assembly cavities

About You:

  • 2+ years of quality inspection experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment, supporting production hardware
  • Expert proficiency with precision hand tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gages)
  • Ability to collaborate with design engineering, manufacturing, and production teams to address inspection findings and quality issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform thorough inspections and ensure strict compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements
  • Clear and effective communicator, capable of interfacing with inspectors, engineers, production personnel, and quality stakeholders
  • Hands-on experience with MRB processes, including identification, documentation, and disposition of non-conforming hardware, along with the ability to stand for extended periods on the production floor, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 25 lbs

Nice to haves but not required:

  • Prior experience inspecting COPVs and/or avionics hardware, including electrical connectors, harnesses, and integrated assemblies
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, lead projects, or influence quality improvement efforts without formal authority
  • Highly organized and capable of bringing structure to ambiguous or previously undefined environments
  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
