The Quality Engineering Intern will support vehicle quality, investigate field failures, and assist with manufacturing process quality through inspections and documentation.

As a Quality Engineering Intern
Interns in this pipeline may be considered for opportunities across a range of teams, including:
Vehicle and Quality Engineering: Support vehicle quality throughout development by tracking quality issues, conducting inspections, and coordinating cross-functional approvals for fleet releases.
Field Quality: Investigate field failures, analyze returned parts, identify trends, and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance vehicle reliability.
Supplier Quality Engineering: Work with suppliers to ensure quality standards are met through assessments, part approval processes, and issue resolution across various component types.
Manufacturing Process Quality: Support manufacturing quality through process documentation, inspections, rework validation, and quality metrics tracking to ensure production standards are met.
Program Requirements
- Currently pursuing a B.S., M.S., or other advanced degree in a relevant engineering field.
- Plan to return to school after completing the internship.
- Maintain good academic standing.
- Available to commit to either a 12-week summer internship (May or June 2026 start) or a 6-month co-op.
- At least one prior industry internship, co-op, or relevant project experience.
- Willing and able to relocate to the Bay Area, California, for the duration of the internship.
- Interns may not use proprietary Zoox information in university theses, publications, or share it outside of Zoox.
Qualifications
- Foundational understanding of process quality and continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with quality tools such as DFMEA, APQP, and PPAP through coursework or projects.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing and plant quality concepts.
- Awareness of how design, manufacturing, and quality metrics are connected.
- Interest in field quality topics, including reliability, repairs, and field issue analysis.
Compensation:
The monthly salary range for this position is $6,500 to $9,500. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level of education. Additional benefits may include medical insurance, and a housing stipend (relocation assistance will be offered based on eligibility).
