Snap Inc is a technology company. We believe the camera presents the greatest opportunity to improve the way people live and communicate. Snap contributes to human progress by empowering people to express themselves, live in the moment, learn about the world, and have fun together.

The Company operates Snapchat, a visual messaging app that enhances your relationships with friends, family, and the world, and Specs Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary dedicated to making computing more human, in addition to Bitmoji, Saturn, and other digital services.

Snap Engineering teams build fun and technically sophisticated products that reach hundreds of millions of Snapchatters around the world, every day. We’re deeply committed to the well-being of everyone in our global community, which is why our values are at the root of everything we do. We move fast, with precision, and always execute with privacy at the forefront.

The Direct Revenue team owns the strategy and execution for paid consumer monetization on Snapchat, growing subscription and direct revenue by building high value premium experiences, optimizing acquisition and retention funnels, and developing new monetization streams.

We're looking for a Quality Engineer to join Snap Inc. and help us deliver new, exciting experiences through Direct Revenue. You will be joining at a pivotal moment. We are evolving from embedded, feature-by-feature testing toward owning quality for end-to-end user experiences that span multiple teams and surfaces. As AI-assisted testing increasingly covers routine feature correctness, this role concentrates on the highest-risk cross-team experiences, release readiness, and the non-functional qualities (accessibility, compatibility, privacy, compliance, etc.) that make Snapchat experiences feel great. You will help shape how a modern, high-leverage QE team operates.

What you’ll do:

  • Own quality for end-to-end Direct Revenue experiences that cross multiple teams, prioritizing the highest-risk user journeys over exhaustive feature-by-feature coverage.

  • Independently define and drive the test strategy for new, unreleased features and premium experiences.

  • Define, build, and maintain high-signal automation for the critical paths and end-to-end flows that matter most (device/OS compatibility, accessibility, privacy, compliance, localization), while enabling feature developers to own their feature-level coverage.

  • Diagnose, debug, and perform root cause analysis for defects, document your findings, collaborate cross-functionally to triage, and champion resolution of your bugs.

  • Use AI to accelerate development, unblock yourself, and drive higher efficiency, while applying strong judgment, best practices, and domain expertise to ensure high impact solutions.

  • Own release readiness and quality sign-off for your feature domain, and participate in on-call rotations.

  • Review code and test pull requests across platforms, using review to raise the quality bar beyond your own changes.

  • Partner with adjacent and dependency teams to map cross-team dependencies and surface quality risk at the seams where features integrate, aligning on who covers what so the end-to-end experience holds together across surfaces.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency with object-oriented programming in Java, Kotlin, Swift, Objective-C, or similar.

  • Experience with client and/or mobile test automation frameworks. e.g., XCTest/XCUITest, Selenium WebDriver, Appium, Espresso, etc.

  • Highly experienced in defining/building/maintaining test coverage for client/mobile applications for a variety of smartphones/tablets.

  • Deep understanding of quality-related agile methodologies and experience applying them throughout the SDLC.

  • Hands-on experience using AI in an engineering workflow, with sound judgment about where AI helps and where human validation is required.

  • Proficient with standard QE and engineering tooling: Test suite/case management tools (e.g., TestRail), version control (e.g., GitHub), issue tracking (e.g., Jira), and debugging tools (e.g., Chrome Dev Tools, Charles Proxy, Postman).

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. e.g., Whiteboarding/diagramming system behavior

  • Proven experience demonstrating analytical thinking, reporting, leadership, customer focus and collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science or equivalent years of practical work experience.

  • 3+ years of post-Bachelor’s experience in software testing and/or software development; or Master’s degree in a technical field + 2+ year of post-grad testing or software development experience; or PhD in a relevant technical field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a distributed product-team environment.

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and/or Google Cloud.

  • Experience with continuous integration/delivery systems.

If you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation, please don’t be shy and provide us some information.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
