Engineer 1 –Quality Engineer

Summary of Job: The Engineer 1 – Quality Engineering role is an early-to-mid career individual contributor within Asurion’s Supply Chain Management organization. This position is responsible for owning defined quality engineering tasks, investigations, or workstreams that support product integrity, supplier performance, and process capability across assigned operational domains.

Reporting to a Quality Engineering Manager or Senior Quality Engineer, the Engineer 1 applies quality engineering fundamentals, structured problem-solving, and disciplined execution to deliver reliable outcomes. This role focuses on learning quality systems, executing within defined scope, and contributing to cross-functional quality initiatives while developing technical depth and professional judgment.

This is a full-time, on-site, exempt position.

Duties & Responsibilities: • Own and execute assigned quality investigations, validation activities, or project components in alignment with defined objectives and success criteria. • Apply quality engineering fundamentals to support supplier quality, product validation, process control, and compliance activities. • Prepare and maintain quality documentation such as inspection records, control plans, PFMEAs, quality plans, and corrective action reports. • Collect, analyze, and interpret quality data to support issue resolution, performance monitoring, and decision-making. • Participate in structured root cause analysis (e.g., 8D, RCA, CAPA) to address product or process nonconformances, escalating risks as appropriate. • Support supplier qualification activities, first article inspections, and process validation efforts within defined scope. • Assist with new product introductions and engineering changes by executing defined quality readiness tasks. • Collaborate with Product Engineering, Process Engineering, Operations, Procurement,

and suppliers to resolve defined quality issues. • Follow established quality standards, specifications, and compliance requirements while identifying improvement opportunities. • Communicate status, risks, and results clearly to peers and leadership. • Continue developing technical capability in quality tools, statistical methods, and supplier quality management practices.

Skills & Knowledge: • Foundational knowledge of quality engineering principles within manufacturing or supply chain environments. • Working knowledge of structured problem-solving methodologies (RCA, 8D, CAPA). • Basic understanding of statistical analysis and process control concepts (SPC). • Ability to collect and interpret data and translate findings into actionable recommendations within defined scope. • Familiarity with quality documentation practices including control plans and inspection records. • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while collaborating across cross-functional teams. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Organizational and documentation skills supporting structured quality processes.

Specialty Focus – Quality Engineering

· Owns defined customer-reported quality investigations from issue identification through corrective action support within assigned scope.

· Collects, analyzes, and documents customer quality data, defect trends, and field performance metrics to support issue resolution and continuous improvement efforts.

· Executes validation and verification activities to confirm effectiveness of corrective actions for customer-impacting issues.

· Partners with Engineering, Operations, Repair, Supply Chain, and Customer Support teams to investigate and resolve customer quality concerns.

· Supports structured root cause analysis activities (RCA, 8D, CAPA) related to customer complaints, product failures, and field quality events.

· Maintains accurate documentation of customer quality investigations, corrective actions, and quality performance metrics in accordance with established quality management processes.

· Assists in monitoring customer quality performance indicators and escalating emerging quality risks as appropriate.

· Supports readiness and quality validation activities associated with product launches, engineering changes, and customer-impacting process changes.

· Contributes to measurable improvements in customer experience, product reliability, and field quality performance through execution of assigned quality initiatives.

· Supports detailed review with process owners that create defects and do not detect in process allowing flow-out to customers.

· Contribute to activities to predict, detect, and prevent flow-out prior to processing of product.

Education and Experience Guidelines: • Associate degree or higher in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related technical field; or • Equivalent combination of education and 4-5 years of experience in quality, manufacturing, or supply chain environments.
