Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QC/QA) Specialist

CLP is growing, and we're seeking a professional, experienced Quality Control / Quality Assurance (QC/QA) Specialist to join our team in Long Beach, CA.

The Quality Control / Quality Assurance (QC/QA) Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all construction, maintenance, and operational activities meet the standards and specifications required by Southern California Edison (SCE), as well as applicable regulatory and industry requirements. This role plays a critical function in verifying that work is executed safely, accurately, and in full compliance with approved work orders, engineered designs, and governing standards.

The QC/QA Specialist partners closely with field crews, supervision, and client representatives to proactively identify risks, drive continuous improvement, and ensure first-time quality execution.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform field audits and inspections of overhead and underground electrical distribution work.
  • Verify all work complies with SCE standards, construction drawings, and approved work packages.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable regulatory requirements, including California Public Utilities Commission General Orders (e.g., GO 95, GO 128).
  • Conduct pre-job and in-progress quality reviews to confirm job readiness and constructability.
  • Validate proper equipment installation, including transformers, switchgear, cable systems, and associated components.
  • Identify, document, and track non-conformance issues; ensure timely resolution and corrective action.
  • Support root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
  • Partner with field leadership to reinforce quality expectations and best practices.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of SOPs, checklists, and quality control processes.
  • Ensure accurate and complete documentation for project closeout and compliance records.
  • Participate in client audits and represent the organization in quality-related discussions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in electrical utility construction, inspection, or quality control.
  • Strong understanding of SCE’s overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.
  • Working knowledge of SCE construction standards and utility work practices.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), American National Standards Institute, and National Electrical Safety Code.
  • Ability to interpret SCE Planning drawings, work orders, and technical specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety and quality.
  • Effective communication skills for interfacing with field crews, management, and clients.
  • Proficiency in documentation, reporting, and quality tracking systems.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify risks and implement solutions in real time.
  • Direct experience working on SCE projects is strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of supporting safe work practices and regulatory compliance.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

  • You must be able to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Utility Provider Security Clearance is required for this position.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary range is between $90,000 - $120,000
    • We reserve the right to pay more or less than the posted salary range based on factors unrelated to sex.
