Who You Are: 

As a QA Manager for 31st Union, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest quality standards for our gaming projects. You will oversee our internal Development QA team, work closely with Functional QA teams, and their leadership to ensure seamless quality assurance processes. Your expertise will drive the evolution of existing procedures and the development of innovative practices and structures. Managing a dedicated Dev QA team, you will be the cornerstone of ensuring our games meet and exceed the high expectations of our players.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide visionary leadership for the QA department, setting clear objectives aligned with the studio’s goals. Develop and implement a strategic QA framework that integrates seamlessly with the development lifecycle.
  • Evaluate and improve QA processes to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and adaptability.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the internal studio stakeholders, external teams/ partners and the QA department, to ensure clear communication and timely resolution of quality issues.
  • Oversee all aspects of quality assurance, including test planning, execution, defect tracking, and reporting, maintaining high standards throughout the development cycle.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the QA department using data and feedback to enhance processes and team performance.
  • Provide comprehensive reports on QA activities, progress, and key metrics to studio leadership, using data analysis to guide decisions and process improvements.
  • Identify areas of manual QA coverage that are candidates for optimization or automation by test engineering.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in QA within the video game industry, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of managing QA teams and processes in a dynamic development environment.
  • Experience in developing high-quality test plans and reports, with a deep understanding of quality assurance techniques, tools, and trends.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a knack for problem-solving and conflict resolution.

Relevant Experience:

  • Experience with QA automation tools and practices is a plus.
  • Experience with QA for multiplayer games utilizing a client/server model.

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $97,000 and $130,000 per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an 'at-will position' and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
