About Hyperbound

Deals are messy. Multiple stakeholders, hours of calls, and endless emails. At Hyperbound, we're building the AI Agent that will help sales teams untangle that mess.

Hyperbound is the Revenue Activation Platform: an agentic OS for sales that connects what happens to what should happen next.
We came out of YC S23 and went viral with Voice Agents that reps could call to put their skills to the test. Today, we’re building AI that understands sales conversations, coaches in real time, reasons across deals, and takes action to move them forward.

We are trusted by companies like LinkedIn, Amazon, Notion, and Vanta. We raised a $15M Series A in October 2025, grew ARR 5× over the past year, and are growing nearly 20% month over month.

The team you'll build with

We’re former YC founders and founding engineers. We like hard problems, strong opinions, and getting something into customers’ hands while the idea is still fresh.

We work with high trust and real autonomy. You’ll have the context to make decisions, the freedom to choose your approach. We trust you to spot problems, challenge assumptions, and move things forward without waiting for step-by-step direction.

We have each other’s backs. When something goes wrong, we focus on fixing it and learning, not pointing fingers. You’ll have teammates who share what they know, tell you what they think, and jump in to help. We move quickly because we trust each other, give direct feedback, and make decisions together.

We’re optimistic enough to take ambitious swings and willing to change our minds when the evidence comes back. We ship quickly, learn from customers, and keep improving.

About the role

You’ll work alongside our Founding QA Engineer to help Hyperbound ship quickly and confidently. We release new features weekly, and you’ll independently own quality for the features and product areas you take on, from writing test plans and running user acceptance testing to building automation and verifying fixes. You’ll partner closely with product, engineering, and Solutions Engineers to catch issues early and improve how we test as we grow.

What we need from you
  • Technical depth: You can investigate, reproduce, and clearly document a bug. You build reliable automated tests and can tell whether a failure points to a product issue or a problem with the test.

  • Product judgment: You think about how customers actually use the product. You look beyond the happy path and prioritize issues based on their impact.

  • Ownership: You take testing from planning through release. When you find a problem, you help drive it to resolution and verify the fix.

  • Conviction: You push back clearly when something isn’t ready to ship. You explain the risk to PMs, engineers, or founders and help the team decide what needs to happen before release.

  • Collaboration: You work closely with our Founding QA Engineer, share what you learn, and help improve our coverage and processes.

Highly preferred
  • Experience testing AI or LLM products, where outputs can vary and quality isn’t always a simple pass or fail.

  • Experience working in an early-stage startup or another environment with rapid product releases.

What your regular Thursday looks like:
  • Test planning: Partner with Product and Engineering to understand upcoming features, identify risks and edge cases, and define the right level of coverage before they ship.

  • Release testing: Run functional, exploratory, user acceptance, and regression testing across connected product workflows, and give the team a clear assessment of release readiness and remaining risk.

  • Technical investigation: Dig into unexpected behavior using browser developer tools, APIs, logs, and other technical signals to isolate issues and give engineers actionable findings.

  • Automation: Build and maintain reliable automated tests across critical product workflows, turning repeated manual checks into scalable regression coverage.

  • Customer bugs: Work with Solutions Engineers to reproduce customer-reported issues, determine scope and impact, and drive fixes through verification.

  • Regression prevention: Add automated checks, verify fixes, and expand coverage so the same classes of issues don’t keep reaching customers.

  • Process improvement: Work with our Founding QA Engineer to strengthen testing standards, improve tooling and coverage, and evolve how QA fits into Hyperbound’s fast release cycle.

What this role is not
  • A manual-testing-only role. You’ll investigate issues hands-on and build automation that reduces repetitive work.

  • A role where you wait for a finished feature and a checklist. You’ll help shape test plans and raise risks before release.

  • A solo QA function. You’ll work alongside our Founding QA Engineer while taking independent ownership of your work.

Requirements
  • 3+ years of software quality engineering experience testing modern web applications or SaaS products.

  • Strong ability to independently design and execute test strategies rather than relying only on predefined test cases.

  • Experience building and maintaining automated test suites using tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar frameworks.

  • Strong understanding of API testing and experience validating interactions between frontend, backend, and third-party systems.

  • Ability to investigate complex bugs using browser developer tools, logs, API requests, application behavior, and other technical evidence.

  • Experience writing clear, actionable bug reports and communicating quality risks to engineers and product stakeholders.

  • Working understanding of CI/CD pipelines and how automated tests fit into development and release workflows.

  • Strong product judgment: you understand how customers use a product and prioritize testing based on risk and impact.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, releases, and customer issues in a fast-moving environment.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • High ownership and comfort operating with ambiguity.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Base: $120,000 - $140,000

  • Equity: 0.025% - 0.05%

  • Health: Medical, dental, and vision coverage

  • Time off: Unlimited PTO

  • Office: San Francisco, commuter benefits offered

Interview Process:
  • Intro call with James, Founding Recruiter (30 min)

  • Conversation with Aigulia, Founding QA Lead (30 min)

  • Technical evaluation (60 min)

  • Final onsite interview (60 min)

We move fast, from first conversation to offer in 1 to 2 weeks, and we'll be transparent with you at every stage.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
