Job Description
We are seeking a Scrum Master and project lead who will be an outstanding addition to our technology team. The Scheduling and Media-Management team develops the software solutions that drive playout of NBCUniversal's most premier content to all distribution outlets. Agile squads include developers, test engineers, a dedicated product owner and scrum lead. Squads are empowered to develop simple and performant solutions to the scheduling of content, ad, and brand promotion material. Solutions must be continuously deployed, distributed among data centers, and highly available to match the superb uptime requirements that viewers have come to expect from all NBCU delivery channels.
We are hiring in multiple locations where our teams are based: New York, NY; Englewood Cliffs, NJ; Denver, CO; Universal City, CA with remote flexibility.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assessing the Scrum Maturity of the team, organization, and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization
  • Serve as Coach and Mentor within the organization to facilitate adoption & maturity
  • Work between the product manager and internal & external teams, guiding the organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to delight customers
  • Working with product managers to generate new, improved, or unique solutions and embrace new ideas to sustain and/or expand our organization, focusing on continuous improvement as well as new innovations, including deliverables and release deadlines
  • Facilitating scrum, sprint planning, sprint demo, and retrospective meetings to facilitate teams to increase creativity while improving efficiency
  • Achieving specific milestones through accurate forecasting and providing deliverables in an iteration while tracking and removing any impediments
  • Facilitating getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work
  • Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution, while guiding the team on how to get the most out of self-organization
  • Coaching software engineers on engineering best practices and non-functional features
  • Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information
  • Ensuring that a Scrum team lives by the practices and rules of Scrum and its value
  • Define key quantitative and qualitative SCRUM/KPI's


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Development, IT/IS Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum 5-year experience in a role demonstrating strong technical, quantitative, and analytical skills
  • Minimum 3-year experience as a Scrum Master of a high-performing Scrum/Kanban Team
  • Expertise in the SDLC process, with a focus on scoping, iteration planning, user story and acceptance criteria writing, rollout management
  • Experience with Jira or similar project management tool, and Confluence or similar knowledgebase
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills to communicate effectively with customers in high-pressure situations.

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Expert in estimation and planning
  • Know about the value of metrics and incremental delivery
  • Strong team-building, vendor, and customer relations skills
  • Self-driven and resourceful to achieve goals independently as well as work well in groups
