Riot Games was established in 2006 by entrepreneurial gamers who believe that player-focused game development can result in great games. In 2009, Riot released its debut title League of Legends to critical and player acclaim. As the most played PC game in the world, over 100 million play every month. Players form the foundation of our community and it’s for them that we continue to evolve and improve the League of Legends experience.

We’re looking for humble but ambitious, razor-sharp professionals who can teach us a thing or two. We promise to return the favor. Like us, you take play seriously; you’re passionate about games. We embrace those who see things differently, aren’t afraid to experiment, and who have a healthy disregard for constraints.

That's where you come in.

We aspire to cement gaming as a pillar of college culture and make League of Legends a generational college sport. Empowering and growing student-led game ties is an essential part of this goal. As the Scholastic Programs Manager, you'll lead the design and implementation of initiatives to support and hypercharge the LoL community experience for college players.

We're looking for a Manager to join our team to lead the strategy and implementation of our scholastic community programs. As a manager, you'll work directly with the cross-functional college team to lead our current College Clubs initiative. You'll also set the vision for the future of Riot's scholastic community programs and work collaboratively to make it a reality.

You'll share a campus with the Central office that serves the whole world, but as a Rioter for the North American region, you'll have a laser focus on leveling up the experience for players in Canada and the United States.

You are:

  • Experienced: You have 5+ years of experience handling online communities, brands, influencers, or other user-focused relationships, ideally in the gaming, university, high school, or athletics spaces.
  • A Community Catalyst: You know that the most impactful way to grow and build a community is with the community themselves. You have a passion and deep understanding of influencers, organizers and how to build strong, self-sustaining communities. You also bring a strategic lens to build a vision and implement systems for communication, shared incentives, and tracking to deliver amazing player experiences.
  • A school-spirit cheerleader: You understand college culture and remain connected to your own college community through athletics, academics, and/or social clubs. You're comfortable on campus, and you understand what makes students, administrators, and professors tick.
  • An OG - original gamer: You have logged many thousands of hours of gaming across a multitude of genres; you're especially passionate about online multiplayer games and the communities around them. Ideally, you're already deeply engaged in LoL as a player and contributor to the community.
  • Business and results oriented: Despite bringing a convention-challenging take on how to cultivate a community, you're able to connect those efforts to the broader business context and deliver needle-moving results for the business.
  • A scrappy person of action: You're dedicated when it comes to delivering player value. You take the lead where a less confident person might hesitate, always thinking about details and possible threats. You roll up your sleeves and make stuff happen, rather than waiting for the cavalry to ride in and save you.
  • A Leader and Great Teammate: You're comfortable playing any role on the team, whatever it takes to deliver awesome to the community. You've led and mentored junior team members, you welcome feedback from all directions, and you prioritize personal development for yourself and those around you.

You will:

  • Own, design and execute a scalable, innovative, world-class college community program that delights and connects players, empowers the community and brings Riot closer to players; then analyze and evaluate the results to see which efforts were most effective to double down on them
  • Build a strong and healthy network of student influencers, organizers and college administrators to support the growth of this ecosystem
  • Communicate directly with player communities as the face of Riot across a motley of digital and irl channels. You'll be recognized and accountable for Riot's contribution to these communities, including the good, bad and ugly
  • Collaborate with a variety of internal teams, including Marketing, Esports, Purchasing, Merchandise, and Technology. You'll break through silos to deliver great community experiences
  • Manage 3rd party vendor relationships from RFP and negotiation to ongoing partnerships, including social media, merch, logistics, and competitive platforms
  • Support a breadth of Riot products and new product launches by activating community channels to excite and empower players who will participate and organize around these new experiences
  • Explore new community verticals that Riot may support in the future, including high school programs

Don’t forget to include a resume and cover letter. We receive a lot of applications, but we’ll notice a fun, well-written intro that shows us you take play seriously.
