Bird is a last-mile electric vehicle sharing company dedicated to bringing safe, low-cost, environmentally-friendly transportation solutions to communities across the world. We provide a fleet of electric, shared scooters that can be accessed via smartphone. Bird is headquartered in Venice, California and is rapidly expanding across the country and the world.

Birds R&D department is responsible for assessing new technologies, adapting existing technologies and ensuring products conform to all relevant safety, environmental & functional certifications. We support the Production Team whenever they encounter a problem during manufacturing. R&D also brings in new vehicle suppliers and ensures they conform to Birds strict quality and performance specifications. R&D has a large number of special projects in the pipeline ranging from small mechanical devices to complete vehicle systems.

Reporting to the Head of R&D, the Project Manager will be responsible for bringing in projects on time and within budget. To be successful in this role, you will need to manage your time to focus on the most pressing priorities (which at times change daily), manage client expectations, understand the business requirements driving your projects, make rational decisions during high-stress situations, and effectively communicate with clients, vendors, engineers and senior management. The Project Manager will work closely with other PM's to ensure best practices are shared and our operating model remains consistent across the globe.

What You'll Do

  • Work with the head of R&D to prioritize and manage multiple business driven initiatives
  • Assess, plan and resolve inquiries directed to the team
  • Address issues that impact various groups within Bird
  • Coordinate and lead meetings
  • Work with diverse teams from all around our organization to ensure projects are moving forward
  • Work with all other Project Managers to make sure we maintain supply chain diversity
  • Help to build a variety of long and short-term, diverse projects
  • Identify operational hurdles and develop scalable plans to overcome them
  • Work with all Bird teams to streamline and scale best practices company wide
  • Some domestic and international travel will be required. Estimated 10%

What You'll Need

  • Excellent communicator with the ability to build relationships and networks
  • Strong skill set in time and project management
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Ability to oversee a project from start to finish managing all relevant stakeholders
  • Strong logical thinking, verbal, and quantitative reasoning, along with the ability to zoom out and see patterns
  • Experience in helping companies identify improvements in process areas, and in assisting with implementing those improvements
  • Ability to collaborate, and work as part of a team
  • Great attention to detail
  • Computer proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail, Data Entry, etc.
  • College Graduate in appropriate field
  • Recent Project Management Qualification
  • 3+ years consulting/management/industry experience preferred
