Role Context 

Our Supply Chain and Sustainability team is looking for a project manager to leverage distinct industry knowledge, including international sourcing, production capabilities, and timeline requirements, to organize and drive an industry leading packaging effort from ideation to rollout.

Packaging plays an increasing role in the customer experience of sweetgreen and it's expanding proportionally as we enter new channels. Also, packaging timelines are long and sensitive to delays, so your deep industry expertise will be immediately valuable and impactful.

Responsibilities:

  1. Project management of all cross-functional packaging projects, with a focus on strategic packaging initiatives and innovation projects starting with ideation, internal design, production engineering, rapid prototyping, contract management, and strategic product rollout
  2. Act as main point of contact for other departments within sweetgreen for these projects, including but not limited to creative, culinary, operations, finance, and store development
  3. Cultivate and integrate relationships of external packaging partners, spanning the spectrum of international production facilities to regional packaging brokers
  4. Diagnose and drive improvements in leading packaging internal initiatives on an as-needed basis
  5. Work closely with design and internal engineering to continue to build and expand packaging innovation to fit the needs of today and the future
  6. Balance the needs of packaging to be functional, operational and experiential with sweetgreen’s attempt to think sustainability with every decision made

Desired Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of project or product management experience
  • 1+ year of experience managing or supervising a team
  • 1+ year of experience in a packaging sourcing role, including international sourcing
  • Strong strategic thinker who is able to prioritize projects and allocate resources based on strategic goals
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project timelines on time and on budget, driving results with cross-functional teams
  • Gifted communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills who is able to motivate and inspire others and negotiate situations to reach win/win/win results
  • Desire to build an unparalleled food supply chain that supports farmers, sweetgreen, and our customers
