NRO Lead Trainer

As NRO Lead Trainer you will help implement effective training and coaching tactics, guide performance of team members, and support our Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches during the new restaurant opening process. The NRO Lead trainer is a member of sg’s boots-on-the-ground squad of expert trainers that travel between openings to support our mission and rapid growth. He/she is responsible for overseeing the training execution New Restaurant Openings and ensuring new team members are properly introduced to sg core values and are trained on technical processes, SOPs and service standards. The NRO lead trainer is a sg brand ambassador to our most important customers, our team members! He/she must thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative setting, demonstrate clear and compelling communication skills, and display tenacity and positivity.

Core Work Activities: 

  • Lead training: Work side-by-side with new team members from turnover to grand opening, clearly communicating goals, standards and core values
    • Ensure readiness for all daily training days and timelines. Follow NRO training book daily
    • Consistently communicate and coach the team to standards. Adhere to and monitor team member compliance of all sg SOPs and food safety policies
    • Motivate new team members by recognizing great work - publicly celebrate new team members who deliver
  • Support leadership: Review training concerns with HC daily to ensure a resolution is achieved
    • Participate in leading orientation
    • Assist in store set up
    • Serve as an in-restaurant point of contact for all training related questions and needs
    • Increase retention level of new hires through training to minimize performance issues. Review training concerns with Head Coach daily to ensure resolutions are quickly achieved

Skills & Requirements

  • Set high execution standards, doesn't settle for status quo

  • Ability to lead by example - working fast, but precise and with a sense of urgency
  • Flexibility and ability to react professionally to changes in schedules and/or project direction 
  • Highly developed communication skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate the why behind the what when training (not just because I said so)
  • Organized and detail oriented, follow up and follow through
  • Ability to coach and provide feedback to different personality types in order to get results
  • Deep understanding of restaurant operations
  • Must be able to travel 
  • Minimum of 3 years experience working at a fast-casual or full service restaurant. Minimum of 1+ years of trainer experience. NRO experience preferred. *Will be required to pass sweetgreen NRO trainer validation

Schedule

  • Full-time, salaried position
  • Travel time subject to change: approx 50-75% of the month
  • Must have weekend availability - during the 14 day NRO training period, you may be required to work up to 50+ hour weeks
