We are looking for a Backend Release Manager to improve Tinder's Continuous Integration posture within our backend teams at Tinder starting with our Backend Engineering team but, over time, extending to our Data Engineering and Machine Learning teams as well.

What You’ll Do:

  • Plan, build, manage, maintain, and continuously improve our backend infrastructure and tooling for Continuous Integration
  • Collaborate with backend engineering teams to develop an effective integration testing strategy and then execute on that strategy to build a test suite for Continuous Integration
  • Develop processes, tools, and automation to help ensure and maintain the proper functioning of our backend test and production environments
  • Influence and drive operational excellence best practices within the backend organization
  • Actively mentor junior engineers, improving their skills, their knowledge of our systems, and their ability to get things done
  • Investigate and recommend best practices for maintaining code quality, including the development of code metrics, code review workflows, code coverage measurement, and the use of static and dynamic analysis tools

What You’ll Need:

  • 5+ years relevant work experience with build management
  • Experience building, managing, and test automation in Continuous Integration systems
  • Experience supporting a multi-site development organization
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, Typescript, Node.js, Python, or Scala
  • Experience in Linux development environments
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and industry best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Experience with evaluating and integrating open source and in-house developed toolsets
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, evaluate alternatives and develop processes and tools as needed to support the organization
  • Proven experience to thrive in a complex software systems environment involving hundreds of microservices operating at massive, global scale

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Experience with Jenkins
  • Experience with Java
  • Experience with packaging and build systems such as bazel, gradle maven, npm, sbt
  • Familiarity with the integration of static and dynamic code-coverage tools
