The Department of Family Medicine of the Keck School of Medicine of USC is seeking a Project Specialist to join our team at the National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA).
 

The successful applicant will support NCEA’s national outreach and engagement efforts to raise awareness of elder abuse and advance elder justice through coordinated campaigns, strategic partnerships, and nationwide initiatives. They will help plan, implement, and manage projects that engage students, professionals, communities, and partner organizations across the country, including annual World Elder Abuse Awareness Day campaigns, the Elder Justice College Ambassadors Program, the Elder Justice Champions Program, and other related initiatives.

We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is highly organized, and can manage multiple priorities effectively and collaboratively. Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to work comfortably with a wide range of staff, partners, and professionals, are essential.
 

This is a full-time, flexible remote/hybrid position in Los Angeles, CA  

Essential Duties:
 

National Outreach and Campaign Coordination:

  • Coordinate national outreach campaigns and initiatives that raise awareness of elder abuse, advance elder justice, and engage audiences across the country.

  • Support planning and implementation of major awareness efforts, including World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) and other national campaigns.

  • Help cultivate and maintain relationships with partner organizations, campuses, communities, and other stakeholders to extend NCEA’s reach and impact.

  • Assist with outreach materials, messaging, and dissemination strategies to promote NCEA initiatives, events, webinars, publications, and partner activities.

  • Track outreach activities, engagement, and campaign progress and prepare summaries or reports as needed.

Program and Project Management:

  • Provide coordination and project management support for NCEA outreach initiatives and special projects.

  • Support planning, logistics, scheduling, documentation, and follow-through for meetings, campaigns, and project deliverables.

  • Help organize and maintain project timelines, contact lists, digital files, and communication records.

  • Coordinate across team members, partners, and participants to ensure projects move forward efficiently and successfully.

  • Provide support and coordination for the Elder Justice College Ambassadors Program, Elder Justice Champions, and other student-focused outreach and engagement efforts across the nation

  • Support college campus outreach and engagement opportunities that help build awareness of elder justice among students and emerging professionals

Additional Project Support:

  • Provide general administrative and logistical support for NCEA projects and outreach activities.

  • Respond to technical assistance inquiries.

  • Conduct literature reviews, draft memos/briefs, and cite check documents.

  • Support the NCEA team with other duties as assigned to ensure project success.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Gerontology, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Education, Project Management, or a related field.

  • 2+ years of professional experience in outreach, project coordination, program coordination, campaign support, communications, public health, non-profit, higher education, or government settings.

  • Experience supporting or coordinating multi-partner projects, outreach initiatives, campaigns, or programs.

  • Experience working in a non-profit, public health, government, higher education, or related environment.

  • Knowledge of elder abuse prevention and intervention, aging, public health, or related social issues.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello, Monday.com, or similar) to support planning, coordination, and tracking of projects and deliverables

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences and partners.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks, timelines, and deadlines effectively.

  • Demonstrated passion for social justice, elder rights, public health, or community engagement issues.

  • Experience developing outreach materials, coordinating dissemination efforts, or supporting audience engagement across multiple channels.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Gerontology, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Education, Project Management, or a related field.

  •  3+ years of applicable project, program, outreach, or administrative experience.

  • Experience coordinating or managing internship, volunteer, ambassador, or student engagement programs.

  • Experience supporting national campaigns, public awareness initiatives, or multi-state/community outreach efforts.

  • Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish) is a plus.

The hourly rate range for this position is $29.59 - $37.68.
