Description

ABOUT WELLNESS EQUITY ALLIANCE

Wellness Equity Alliance is a national multidisciplinary health organization that designs and delivers integrated, community-based care for populations most impacted by health inequities. We do this through mobile and field-based models, providing medical care, behavioral health services, substance use treatment, harm reduction, and care coordination in nontraditional settings such as encampments, schools, reentry sites, and rural communities, as well as with sovereign tribal nations. Grounded in trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and data-driven practices, WEA combines clinical expertise, lived experience, and advanced population health analytics to reduce barriers to care, improve continuity, and strengthen local systems. We have partnered with more than 60 public agencies, managed care plans, and community-based organizations across the U.S. to implement scalable, sustainable programs that are advancing health equity and improving outcomes for historically marginalized populations.

We are known as Renegades, Rebels, Disruptors, and Dreamers. If that sounds like you, we want you on our team.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Project Manager turns WEA's organizational priorities into chartered, tracked, and delivered projects. Working within WEA's Project Management Portfolio, the Project Manager plans, coordinates, and monitors initiatives across program launches, clinical operations, provider and payer readiness, facilities, and organizational infrastructure.

This role partners with Executive, Senior, Departmental, and Program Leadership to move initiatives from idea to implementation. The Project Manager collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, monitors timelines and budgets, and supports development, grant-funded, contract-driven, operational, and strategic initiatives across the organization.

HOW PROJECT MANAGEMENT WORKS AT WEA

Every WEA project runs through a shared portfolio process, so leadership has one view of what is underway, who owns it, and where it stands.

The project lifecycle:

  1. The Executive Team identifies a project or initiative.
  2. The initiative is added to the WEA Project Management Portfolio Tracker.
  3. A Project Manager, Executive Sponsor, and Project Leader are assigned.
  4. The Project Manager schedules a Charter Alignment Meeting with the Executive Sponsor and Project Leader.
  5. The Project Charter is completed and approved, defining background, business need, strategic alignment, desired outcomes, scope, and milestones.
  6. The Project Manager initiates the work, collaborating closely with the Sponsor and Project Leader and coordinating intern support and assignments.
  7. Progress is reviewed weekly with the Project Management Team.
  8. The portfolio is reviewed monthly with the Executive Team (CEO, COO, and Chief of Staff).

Roles on every project:

  • Executive Sponsor: Strategic oversight, prioritization, resource support, executive decisions, and escalation.
  • Project Leader: Subject matter expert and business owner responsible for project content, operational or clinical direction, requirements, and implementation decisions.
  • Project Manager: Facilitates planning, coordination, communication, documentation, follow-up, risk tracking, and reporting.
  • Contributors: Individuals supporting specific deliverables, tasks, or decisions.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

WEA's portfolio spans the full range of building and running community-based care. Projects typically fall into these areas:

  • Program Launch and Expansion: Behavioral Health Crisis Walk-In Center (CWIC) launch and operations; Ryan White HIV program and service delivery build-out; HIV Street Medicine strategic initiative (The Last Mile); 30-60-90 day plans for field teams; tribal health clinic development; county technical assistance engagements
  • Facilities and Site Development: Clinic and program facility searches across San Diego, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Los Angeles; site criteria, property research, and site tours; office moves and lease coordination
  • Provider and Payer Readiness: Provider credentialing, privileging, and enrollment; health plan contracting for medical and behavioral health; employee clearance and LiveScan/Trustline processes
  • Clinical Operations and Quality: Policies and procedures through clinical review committees; workflow standardization, including AI-supported workflows; HIV, HCV, and STI clinical quality metrics; ECM telephonic outreach standardization and reporting; EHR (Athena) build-out
  • Governance and Organizational Infrastructure: WEA-wide committee structure (Pharmacy & Therapeutics, Occupational Health, People & Culture, Integrated Behavioral Health, Department of Medicine, Health Literacy, Data & Reporting); monthly Town Halls; Google Shared Drive and ClickUp implementation; recruitment process development

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
