• Coach, discipline, motivate, and manage hourly manufacturing employees.
• Promote and maintain positive employee relations and a total quality-working environment with employees.
• Act as a positive liaison between employees and management.
• Maintain Housekeeping standards for shift and department.
• Meet and/or exceed departmental goals.
• Support site safety programs, implement new safety procedures, conduct safety trainings, and recommend safety improvements. Assure safety compliance to create and maintain a safe work environment for employees.
• Must be familiar with equipment and operating procedures in order to make educated judgment decisions and recognize defective equipment or substandard product and utilize appropriate resources to resolve.
• Coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality for products to ensure they meet specifications.
• Revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure, operating problems, personnel, etc.
• Assure all team members are properly trained in critical areas of safety, housekeeping, time management, quality standards and continuous improvement. Transition new team members into the team quickly and efficiently upon assignment.
• Demonstrate leadership that is consistent with Company's vision, mission and values.
• Contractor Management, daily work permits, LOTO, Hot work, confined space, line breaking, and work at heights.
• VE batch editing and work instruction improvements on recipes.
• Tracking OEE and making process improvements based upon them.
• Involvement in site quality, monthly QCAT meetings, quality investigations, and formula feedbacks.
• Support weekend production coverage by being on-site on operating Saturdays, helping to take off hours phone calls, and helping to fill in for supervisors if off for extended periods of time.
• Support site safety programs, implement new safety procedures and recommend safety improvements. Assure safety compliance to create and maintain a safe work environment for employees. Be involved in safety/incident investigations.
• Coordinate and participate in additional site projects as assigned including, but not limited to: reactor downtime opportunities, waste reduction, tank cleanup coordination, and PSM compliance by training operators on SOPs , among others.
• Participation towards completion of other related tasks and duties as directed or needed.
Principal Accountabilities:
• Achieve on time production of goods at or above expected quality in a safe manner.
• Maintain discipline and high morale within the departments.
• Maintain absenteeism at or below expected goal.
• Identify any training gaps with production employees and identify training to fill those gaps.
• Provide direction for subordinates to achieve full individual potential.
• Monitor and insure compliance to all safety and housekeeping requirements within the department.
• Monitor and insure compliance with all quality specifications.
• Support and achieve plant, division and corporate goals.
• Manage operating efficiencies in departments.
• Utilize raw materials and equipment efficiently.
• Maintain a positive employee relations environment.
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
- Must have at least one (1) year of work experience in a manufacturing, distribution, operations function or have completed a Sherwin-Williams Development Program in an Operations function
- Have a bachelor's degree or higher in Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Operations, or Supply Chain
- Have at least one (1) year of experience in leadership role(s), supervising others, or leading teams
- Have completed formal training in and/or have at least one (1) year of work experience applying continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean, etc.
- Have at least three (3) years of experience working in a manufacturing and/or distribution facility
- Have prior work experience using timekeeping and/or production control systems
