Northrop Grumman’s Mission Enabling Products (MEP) Business Unit designs, manufactures and operates small and medium-class spacecraft for communications, imaging, scientific, exploration and national security space applications. MEP is leading supplier of space components that power and enable satellites of all classes, provides technical engineering services to government agencies and laboratories, and is developing exciting new satellite servicing and advanced space flight technologies.

We are seeking a  Production Planner & Scheduler to support our Deployables Operating unit in Oxnard, CA

This position is 100% on-site and may be filled as either a Production Planner & Scheduler (level 2) or a Principal Production Planner & Scheduler (level 3).

This role is distinguished from a standard planning position by its elevated scope, including greater ownership of complex planning tasks such as containment activities related to non-conforming parts, strategic execution, cross-functional coordination and leadership.

 

Responsibilities are expected to be performed at an advanced level, demonstrating expert knowledge, sound judgement, and the ability to independently lead complex planning activities.

 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Focal point for all program containment activities including running reports, performing inventory analyses with on hand/consumed inventory, ensuring that planning related responsibilities in containment tasks are completed, and work with a cross functional team to ensure all non-conforming parts are dispositioned.

  • Supports continuous improvement activities within the department or that is impactful to the department.

  • Supports SAP ERP System Implementation.

  • Performs work order variance analysis and review MRP execution and ensures accuracy of information, reconciles supply and demand, validates master scheduling requirement.

  • Performs risk analysis, identifying and resolving critical path and MRP logic conflicts.

  • Analyzes risks to identified solutions and bottlenecks, including forward and reverse scheduling methods, for schedule recovery.

  • Creates and release manufacturing work orders based on bill-of-materials and configuration. Close sub-assemblies work orders, ensures assemblies and integration are complete.

  • Track material shortages for manufacturing work orders, kits, sub-assemblies based on bill-of-material or drawings/configuration. Communicate to program team and management critical part shortages that will jeopardize ship schedule.

  • Maintains inventory including shelf-life sensitive material and tooling for the program.

  • Coordinates and expedites flow of materials, parts, and assemblies between departments, according to manufacturing schedules or priorities, and compiles and maintains manual or computerized record.

  • Prepares purchase requests for the purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load, and inventory requirements.

  • Updates manufacturing work orders based on Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).

  • Analyzes all scheduling reports including capacity base on work breakdown schedule; material requirements list and production plans for work centers.

 

Basic Qualifications for a Level 2:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in a production control and manufacturing environment utilizing an MRP system 

  • Strong computer literacy using an ERP system and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

  • Understanding of Bill of Materials development and management through the product life cycle

  • Proven analytical, technical, strategic and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure and very tight timelines

  • Ability to evaluate data to identify root causes, develop innovative solutions, and implement effective outcomes based on finding

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

  • Must have the ability to lift up to 15 lbs. as well as walk or stand for extended timeframes

  • US Citizenship required

Basic Qualifications for a Level 3:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in a production control and manufacturing environment utilizing an MRP system 

  • Advanced computer literacy using an ERP system and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

  • Experience with Bill of Materials development and management through the product life cycle

  • Proven analytical, technical, strategic and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure and very tight timelines

  • Ability to evaluate data to identify root causes, develop innovative solutions, and implement effective outcomes based on finding

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

  • Must have the ability to lift up to 15 lbs. as well as walk or stand for extended timeframes

  • US Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Lean / Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification

Primary Level Salary Range: $69,000.00 - $103,400.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $85,600.00 - $128,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
