Job Summary:
The Production Line Lead is responsible for overseeing daily activities on an assigned production line, ensuring production targets, product quality, food safety, and workplace safety standards are consistently met. This role provides hands-on leadership to production employees, coordinates workflow, monitors line performance, and communicates operational issues to the Production Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and direct production employees on assigned lines to meet daily production goals and schedules.
- Monitor processing, portioning, packaging, labeling, and product handling activities to ensure efficient production flow.
- Ensure products meet established quality, food safety, customer, and company specifications.
- Assign work and provide direction, training, and coaching to production employees.
- Monitor production output, yields, waste, downtime, and overall line performance.
- Identify and address production, equipment, quality, or employee issues and escalate concerns to the Production Supervisor as needed.
- Ensure employees follow company policies, GMPs, sanitation requirements, and safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production area throughout the shift.
- Complete required production records, reports, and documentation accurately and timely.
- Assist with employee breaks, line coverage, and workflow adjustments to maintain productivity.
- Work closely with Quality Control, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Production teams to resolve operational issues.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, efficiency, quality, and waste reduction.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in food processing, seafood processing, manufacturing, or production environment preferred.
- Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of production processes, food safety, GMPs, and sanitation practices.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in refrigerated or cold production environments.
- Ability to lift and move product or materials as required.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime, weekends, and holidays when needed.
