City Beauty, LLC is looking for a Product Development Assistant to assist the Product Development Manager with a variety of tasks to help ensure product launches are executed in an organized and timely manner. This role will assist in the development of new skincare & color cosmetic products from the marketing brief to the first production delivery. The right candidate must be PASSIONATE enough and driven enough about cosmetics and personal care to come in, learn on their feet, and get it done!

Role Expectations:

Assisting the Product Development Manager with the day-to-day activities to meet project goals & deadlines

Assist the Product Development Manager in running the product development process from new product initiation/conception to completion & first delivery for new product launches

Arrange for the proper testing of packaging and formulation with contract manufacturers and clinical labs

Source primary & secondary packaging, formulas as well as contract manufacturers

Follow up on emails, inquiries and samples of projects pertaining to new development and existing orders

Give proper feedback on formula and packaging submissions to contract manufacturers, keeping a keen eye for quality

Coordinate artwork requests for primary and secondary packaging with internal graphic designer

Create and manage spreadsheets (cost of goods, project status, bill of materials, spec sheets, etc.)

Perform research to help identify emerging technologies & trends in packaging, ingredients, formulations and products

Help to identify competitive strengths and weaknesses and opportunities that arise in various categories we would be able to compete in

Have a keen awareness of worldwide innovations, trends, consumer feedback and competitor activity both in mass and prestige

Place PO’s for all new and reordered products, while informing operations of all status updates

Keep project samples and deliverables highly organized using a bin system

Collaborate with cross functional teams (design, sales, copywriting/marketing, operations, and regulatory) for product launch strategies and execution

Work with customer service liaisons to ensure customer service agents are ready for product launches – this includes submitting a product spec sheet for proper training

Assist during photo/video shoots per new product launch, as needed

Work closely with the sales & marketing teams to define and understand our own customer needs

Provide periodic updates on product development to management

Coordinate initial purchase order& reorders for new and existing products

Perform other assigned reasonable projects and functions by department supervisor and management

Experience Required:

Some experience in the beauty industry, product development is preferred but not required

Associate’s Degree acceptable, but Bachelor’s Degree is preferred

Excellent project coordination and tracking skills

Knowledge of formulation, ideally in skincare is preferred but not required

Proficient in spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel and Google Docs)

Strong desire to succeed

Thrives on solving complex problems

Must be able to work quickly, take initiative, track the status of items, and be resourceful while working independently under the Product Development Manager

Energetic, self-motivated, and the ability to act with a sense of urgency, intensity and integrity
