Here are a few reasons why we think you’d love working here:

  • Building the future of Disney’s media: Our Technologists are designing and building the products and platforms that will power our media, advertising, and distribution businesses for years to come.

  • Reach, Scale & Impact: More than ever, Disney’s technology and products serve as a signature doorway for fans' connections with the company’s brands and stories. Disney+. Hulu. ESPN. ABC. • Innovation: We develop and implement groundbreaking products and techniques that shape industry norms, and solve complex and distinctive technical problems.

About The Role

The Content Data Products team is the engine behind Disney's content intelligence — ideating, building, and managing the data products that unlock the full value of Disney's content portfolio across every distribution channel.  As a Product Manager II (P2), you will focus on the execution and optimization of feature sets within our content viewership data ecosystem. You will work on well-defined problems, relying on growing product intuition to deliver consistent value to our stakeholders across Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. You will partner with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate raw data signals into actionable insights. You will gain on-the-job experience that you will be expected to leverage to continuously sharpen your product craft and increase the impact of the product features you own.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execution & Delivery: Lead the end-to-end delivery of specific feature sets, including backlog refinement, user story creation, and managing day-to-day activities for a scrum team.

  • Support for Strategic Initiatives: Support senior PMs on large-scale initiatives and benefit from hands-on experience that hones your product craft.

  • Stakeholder Support: Act as a primary point of contact for routine stakeholder inquiries and support requests, ensuring data quality issues are triaged and resolved efficiently.

  • Product Documentation: Create and maintain high-quality product documentation, such as data dictionaries and user guides to ensure clarity and alignment.

  • Analytical Support: Partner with data analysts and business leaders to elicit requirements for small-to-medium enhancements and transform them into executable vision.

  • Data Quality & Monitoring: Monitor data product health, identify risks, and coordinate with Data Reliability Engineering (DRE) to resolve data incidents and manage backfills.

  • Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Data Science, and Governance teams to ensure content data products are reliable and meet business needs.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of product management experience, or relevant experience in data platforms or analytics-heavy roles.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

  • Technical Aptitude and Curiosity: Foundational understanding of Big Data ecosystems and SQL; ability to engage in technical discussions and understand data flow patterns.

  • Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to break down work into MVPs and subsequent iterations, following established guidelines and procedures.

  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarize complex data situations for diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry Knowledge: Experience or familiarity with Media or Entertainment industry datasets (e.g., content metadata, Nielsen ratings).

  • Tools: Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker) and exposure to data management technologies (Snowflake, Databricks, Airflow).

  • Agile Methodology: Experience working within Agile or Scrum frameworks, managing backlogs in Jira, and participating in sprint ceremonies.

  • Passion: For general entertainment and sports content.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
