We are looking for team members who take pride in their work and seek to consistently improve themselves, their skills, and their knowledge. If this sounds like you–and the type of work environment where you’d thrive–we hope you’ll join us!

We offer flexible remote work options and are primarily based in the US. You do not have to relocate to join GovPilot!

What We Offer:
  • Competitive salary.
  • Unlimited PTO.
  • Flexible working hours and remote work options.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Professional development opportunities and learning budget.
  • Home office and IT budget.
  • Supportive team environment.
  • The chance to work on innovative projects with cutting-edge technologies.

The Role

Design and manage product. Run sprints, write stories, lead design from wireframe to hifi.

You'll work inside an AI-native development model. Small pods of strong engineers paired with designers who have product judgment. No handoff culture. You'll own the work.

Reports to the Director of Product and Design. Partners with one other hybrid designer/PM to cover the full product surface.

Why this role

Our thesis is simple. Pair designers who have strong product sense with strong engineers, give both sides great AI tooling, and ship faster and smarter than any traditionally structured team.

If you've been waiting for a product role that trusts you to own the full loop, this is it.

Responsibilities
  • Talk to customers regularly. Listen for what's broken, what's confusing, what they actually need.
  • Own the design process end to end. Wireframes, flows, prototypes, final specs.
  • Write and prioritize and design product intents and acceptance criteria. Run planning, grooming, and retros.
  • Prototype and iterate directly in tools like Claude Design or Make.
  • Communicate what shipped and why it matters. Stakeholders should always know what changed and what it did for users.
Requirements
  • 3+ years in product design with meaningful PM experience on top.
  • Strong customer research instincts. You know how to run a good interview and what to do with what you learn.
  • Fluency in AI design and dev tools (Lovable, Claude, Make, or comparable).
  • Proven ability to run a sprint, not just attend one.
  • Product instincts grounded in user outcomes, not features.
  • Clear communicator with non-technical stakeholders, in writing and out loud.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and pace.

Bonus: GovTech, B2B SaaS, or enterprise software for non-technical buyers.

Practicals:
  • You'll report to: Director of Product
  • Location: Anywhere in the USA
  • Start date: As soon as possible

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
