The Role – Product Designer

We are looking for a Product Designer with strong UI and UX skills, capable of designing clear, scalable product experiences in fast-moving, data-rich environments. You work at the intersection of product, business, communication design, and engineering - translating complex sports data into intuitive, engaging interfaces.

You actively use AI in your workflow and build AI-driven systems alongside engineers. You’re comfortable working with real-time data, ambiguous inputs, and evolving product requirements.

Ideally, you are as comfortable opening Claude Code or Cursor as you are opening Figma and you see AI-assisted coding not just as a shortcut, but as a creative design tool. You understand that the future of sports experiences, from live match tracking to fan engagement and betting interfaces, will be built by designers who can both conceive and prototype them.

You design and prototype end-to-end user flows across platforms (web, mobile, live data interfaces) and validate impact through rapid experimentation. You are hands-on: you move fast in Figma, build interactive demos, and are comfortable preparing partner-facing materials for leagues, broadcasters, sportsbooks, and digital platforms.

What You’ll Do

  • Design intuitive interfaces for real-time sports data (scores, stats, tracking, odds, timelines).
  • Translate complex datasets into clear UX flows, dashboards, and scalable visual systems.
  • Prototype AI-driven features with product and engineering.
  • Use AI coding tools to build interactive prototypes and workflow-driven solutions.
  • Create wireframes, high-fidelity designs, and interactive prototypes.
  • Produce partner-facing materials (product demos, decks, landing pages) for leagues and clients.
  • Contribute to research (interviews, journey mapping) and validate ideas through rapid testing.
  • Collaborate with analytics to measure impact, run experiments, and iterate quickly.
  • Design experiences that drive fan engagement, partner value, and monetization.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 3–5+ years in product / UX/UI design.
  • Strong UI skills: visual clarity, hierarchy, and ability to present complex data cleanly.
  • Strong UX thinking: flows, structure, edge cases, and real-time states.
  • Systems thinking: ability to design cohesive experiences across platforms and touchpoints.
  • Experience working with data-heavy or real-time products (sports, finance, analytics, etc.).
  • Proven AI experience: building prompt-based workflows, automation pipelines, or AI-assisted product features.
  • Hands-on prototyping: expert in Figma; comfortable building interactive prototypes in React / HTML / CSS or via AI coding tools.
  • Passion for AI-assisted design and “vibe coding,” with a builder mindset.
  • Research experience: interviews, usability testing, surveys, and synthesis into product decisions.
  • Comfortable working with analytics and experimentation frameworks.
  • Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders in complex environments.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in sports, gaming, media, or betting industries.
  • Familiarity with live sports data, odds, or real-time event systems.
  • Experience designing fan-facing products (apps, second-screen experiences, live match centers).
  • Ability to write functional front-end code or rapidly prototype using AI tools.
  • Strong interaction design and motion skills, especially for live and dynamic interfaces.
  • Experience with design systems at scale.

The salary for this role is based on an annualized salary range of $135,000 - $160,000. This role will also be eligible to take part in Genius Sports Group's benefits plan.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
