Lead product design workstreams for AI-powered features and experiences across native mobile applications and websites. Kettle designs digital products with soul, for some of the most ambitious consumer brands in the world. Our work lives at the intersection of product thinking and brand storytelling; products that are just as considered in feeling as they are in function.

We are looking for an AI-native Product Design Lead to join one of our largest accounts, a fast-moving client operating at the intersection of enterprise technology and consumer products. In this role, you'll shepherd the product vision for AI-powered features and experiences, designing what it looks like when AI changes what's possible for the user. As a Lead, you'll own distinct workstreams as part of the larger account, partner with other designers, and work directly with clients to solve their most forward-looking design challenges.

Candidates should have:

  • Product design experience in agency or related environments designing iOS and Android native applications and websites
  • Demonstrated experience designing AI-enabled product features, surfaces, flows, or moments where AI meaningfully changes the user experience, not just AI as an aesthetic, but AI as a functional design challenge
  • Fluency with AI tools as part of your design practice and workflows. You use them to move faster, think broader, and explore more, and you bring that fluency into the work itself
  • Experience leading workstreams, giving direction to others, and making decisions based on collective input and feedback
  • Experience delivering user-focused solutions in high-complexity categories (enterprise technology or consumer products)
  • A clear communication style, with the ability to present design work internally and to senior-level clients
  • Experience working in agile product design/development models
  • Comfort working with and activating against enterprise-scale design systems

We’d like to know that you can:

  • Design AI-powered product experiences with the same rigor and craft you'd bring to any complex interaction challenge, thinking through edge cases, failure states, trust signals, and the design decisions that arise when AI output is incomplete, incorrect, or unexpected
  • Deliver on multiple aspects of design, including visual design, UI, and UX, producing deliverables such as high-fidelity prototypes, production-ready designs, annotations, wireframes, and other artifacts
  • Solve complex experience challenges while delivering beautiful, usable interfaces
  • Own distinct workstreams with the guidance of your design director, bringing clarity and momentum to the work
  • Partner with teammates across disciplines including product management, engineering, and development
  • Work on a client-facing embedded team, building strong client relationships with a solid understanding of their business needs, goals, and how those intersect with the consumer's experience
  • Adapt to different working styles and processes, from rapid iteration and optimization to long-horizon product thinking
  • Embrace challenges and proactively ideate with fellow teammates and clients

The target range of compensation is $150k - $170k. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and location.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
