THE OPPORTUNITY

The Product Analyst will support Banc of California’s Digital Banking and Product function with a primary focus on product research, market trends, product performance, new product development, and product strategy. This role will work closely with the Head of Digital Banking & Product, Product Managers, and cross-functional partners to help evaluate, develop, enhance, and manage banking products that support the bank’s growth, client experience, and transformation priorities.

This is a role designed for someone who is highly curious, analytical, organized, and eager to gain broad exposure to product management within a financial institution. The position will support research and analysis related to existing products, emerging product opportunities, competitive offerings, client needs, pricing, product adoption, usage trends, and revenue growth opportunities.

The role will assist with product discovery, competitive benchmarking, business case development, roadmap support, and product documentation. While the role will support digital banking initiatives, the primary emphasis is on developing strong product management fundamentals and helping the bank identify, prioritize, and deliver products and capabilities that improve client value and business performance.

The Product Analyst will collaborate with internal partners, including Sales, Operations, Technology, Digital Banking, Marketing, Compliance, Legal, Risk, Finance, and vendor partners. Performs all duties in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures, all U.S. state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the Company operates.

 

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Support the Head of Digital Banking & Product with product analysis, business cases, presentations, roadmap updates, decision materials, and strategic product initiatives.
  • Conduct product research and competitive benchmarking across banking products, fintech offerings, pricing, product features, client needs, market trends, and emerging capabilities.
  • Analyze product performance trends, including adoption, usage, revenue, growth, attrition, profitability, client behavior, and other key metrics to identify insights and recommendations.
  • Leverage AI across all responsibilities, and work to drive wider AI adoption and use cases throughout the Digital Banking and Product team. 
  • Support smaller-scale products, product features, or defined product workstreams under the direction of Product Managers or the Head of Digital Banking & Product.
  • Partners with Product Managers and cross-functional teams to support product discovery, product development, product delivery, client experience improvements, and adoption efforts.
  • Prepare clear summaries, recommendations, presentations to support the bank’s New Products and Services Subcommittee.
  • Contribute to a culture of curiosity, collaboration, innovation, disciplined execution, and continuous improvement within the Digital Banking & Product organization.
  • Follow all established policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 3 years of professional experience related to a product analyst position, including experience with product research, data analysis, reporting, business case support, or product development activities. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, specifically PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Experience with AI and the ability to introduce new opportunities to leverage the technology throughout the Product organization.
  • Experience & expertise in developing and rolling out product capabilities preferred.
  • Working knowledge of banking, bank products and product development processes. 
  • AI experience, including use for deep learning, research and recommendations. Ability to synthesize information for executive audiences. 
  • Ability to make informal and formal presentations, inside and outside the organization; speaking before assigned team or other groups as needed.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize own work schedule and the work schedules of others on a short-term and long-term basis.
  • Ability to deal with complex difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, an ability to think critically and analyze data creatively.
  • Focus and ability to collaborate.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required

SALARY RANGE

The base salary ultimately offered is determined through a review of education, industry experience, training, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant in alignment with market data and other factors.
