THE ROLE:

Hartbeat is seeking a nostalgia-loving contract Producer for a new premium video podcast; a rewatch podcast of a popular 80s/90s sitcom. You will report into and work closely with Hartbeat’s Executive Producer. As this show is always on, some weeks may require some late nights and/or weekend hours.

Please note that this is a contract only position and as such, will not offer benefits. The team is looking for someone to start immediately. Compensation as listed is based on experience and skillset. Lastly, this role needs to be on-site at least 2 days a week at our West Hollywood HQ - please only apply if you are able to meet these requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the show, shepherding episodes from inception through the final mix

• Research on guests, TV episodes, projects, and topics

• Scripting outline for episodes

• Write interview questions for guests

• Write metadata and deliver episode to digital operations team weekly

• Establish framing, structure and tone for weekly episodes, in collaboration with executive producers, producers, and editors

• Give notes on all drafts of outlines and scripts

• Oversee editing process and work with the editor on all video and audio episodes

• QC all versions of episode audio and video (first cut, intermediary versions, and final version)

• Communicate, post and track deadlines on team Slack channel

• Track show calendar and deadlines – make sure all tasks are on track

• Work with producer and production supervisor on the taping calendar

• Manage recording sessions

• Prepare and approve final edits, create docs for pickups sessions

• Insist on the highest standards for scripts, mixes, and metadata

• Provide both top-line notes and specific line edits/revisions

• Flagging and preparing potential marketing and social media assets

• Work closely with Hartbeat Marketing team to ensure social assets are reflective of show’s creative

• Assist the team in pre and post production

• Fact-checking

• Deliver Hartbeat approved metadata and final assets for every episode via Airtable and FrameIO

• Clear communication with hosts’ assistant, editor and Hartbeat production team

• Other admin tasks as needed

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• 5 years’ experience producing a weekly show, with at least 2 years of video production experience

• 2-3 years of experience writing for a pop culture-based show in a conversational style and in the “voice” of established hosts

• Experience managing and prioritizing copious micro and macro day-to-day logistics of a weekly show

• Experience running recording sessions and directing talent

• Experience giving mix notes for shows with sound design

• Self-starter and excited to be a team player and leader

• Highly organized and deadline driven

• Excellent communication skills

COMPENSATION

Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, competencies, prior relevant experience, and work location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses and incentives.
