About the Role

As a Principal Implementation Architect at Karbon, you’ll be the technical lead responsible for building and delivering technical implementations after the sale. You’ll transform scoped requirements into a migration plan including document management systems like Google Drive, SharePoint, Dropbox, and other practice-critical tools. You will build a team around you to support this work.

You’ll collaborate closely with Engineering, Implementation Managers, and Customer Success to deliver a seamless onboarding experience that meets each customer’s unique technical needs.

As a Principal Implementation Architect you will….
  • Scope, build, and deliver technical migrations, particularly around DMS and workflow-related systems.
  • Create lightweight tooling (using APIs, scripts, or no-code platforms) to support tactical, high-impact migrations.
  • Develop a repeatable migration playbook, including templates, timelines, best practices, and customer-facing resources.
  • Partner with Engineering and Support to ensure technical soundness, scalability, and support pathways.
  • Serve as the technical escalation point for post-sale data or configuration challenges during implementation.
  • Identify patterns in customer migration needs and scale delivery capacity by hiring or contracting future specialists.
  • Collaborate with Sales Engineers, CSMs, and Implementation Managers to ensure clear pre-sale scoping and smooth handoffs.
About You
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical implementation, integrations, or solutions delivery role
  • Comfortable working with REST APIs, JSON, and modern web technologies
  • Experience with migration from document management platforms (Google Drive, Dropbox, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.)
  • Experience with migrating from a variety of accounting and practice management systems, including CCH, Wolters Kluwer, Intuit, Xero, Sage, IRIS, or other proprietary tools with limited export capabilities
  • Familiar with middleware tools (Make.com, Zapier, Tray.io, etc.)
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with CSMs, Engineers, and customer stakeholders
  • Passion for action - you love helping customers get to “done”
Bonus Points If You Have
  • Experience in accounting/tax software or practice management tools
  • Knowledge of OAuth2, SSO, and common SaaS authentication models
  • Light scripting or automation experience (Python, JavaScript, etc.)
  • Worked in a scaleup or customer-centric SaaS environment
Why work at Karbon?
  • Gain global experience across the USA, Australia, New Zealand, UK, Canada and the Philippines
  • Excellent benefits package including:
    • Paid Flexible Time Off with an encouraged 3 weeks use per year
    • Company paid medical for you and eligible spouse/partner and dependents
    • Company paid dental and vision and eligible spouse/partner and dependents
    • Fully company funded short and long term disability
    • Fully company paid life insurance
    • 401(k) with company matching
    • Flexible Spending Account
    • Up to 8 weeks paid parental leave
    • Work-from-home stipend
  • Work with (and learn from) an experienced, high-performing team
  • A collaborative, team-oriented culture that embraces diversity, invests in development and provides consistent feedback
  • Be part of a fast-growing company that firmly believes in promoting high performers from within

As we hire across various locations within the USA we are required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role.

The range provided is broad and takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are reviewed when making a hiring decision, such as physical location/cost of living in that location, years of experience, skills, and other business needs.

It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the pay range and each compensation decision is dependent on each individual case. The base salary is one component of the total compensation package, which for some roles may include a target bonus, for some roles very competitive equity grant, and very generous benefits. While we believe competitive compensation is a critical aspect of you deciding to join us, we do hope you also spend time considering why our mission, purpose and values are right for you. We are creating something transformational here, and we hope you are as excited about the future as we are!

The estimated base salary range for this role is:
$140,000$155,000 USD

If you've made it this far in the job description but your past experience doesn't perfectly align, we do encourage you to still apply. You could still be the right person for the role!

We recruit and reward people based on capability and performance. We don’t discriminate based on race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, lifestyle, age, educational background, national origin, religion, physical or cognitive ability, and other diversity dimensions that may hinder inclusion in the organization.

Generally, if you are a good person, we want to talk to you. 😛

If there are any adjustments or accommodations that we can make to assist you during the recruitment process, and your journey at Karbon, contact us at [email protected] for a confidential discussion.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
