About Northbeam

Northbeam is building the world’s most advanced marketing intelligence platform, providing top eCommerce brands a unified view of their business data through powerful attribution modeling and customizable dashboards. Our technology helps customers accurately track ad spend, understand the full customer journey, and drive profitable growth.

We’re experiencing rapid growth, have strong product-market fit, and are looking for the right people to help us scale. This is a rare chance to make a meaningful impact at a fast-moving, high-growth company. At Northbeam, you’ll join a team of driven, collaborative, and talented individuals who value personal growth and excellence. We’d love for you to be part of our journey.

We’re a remote-friendly company with offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

About the Role

As a Principal UX Designer, you will lead the design, prototyping, and evaluation of the overall usability and adoptability of Northbeam’s products. Our mission is to create robust yet elegant solutions that compete with the world’s best user-centered platforms.

Northbeam is looking for an experienced design leader who thinks e-2-e about the customer experience, creating storyboards, leading participatory design sessions, and aligning our executive team around a design vision for our products and features.  You are a storyteller who inspires our team to think about the customer experience across every touchpoint and channel, and who thinks of UX design as a dialogue with customers. Additionally, you should have excellent UX, UI, and visual design skills with deep experience designing B2B products.

You will have the unique opportunity to interface directly with clients to understand their needs and work alongside a cross-functional team to conceptualize, design, develop, deliver, and iterate on each project. We are seeking a highly empathetic and collaborative leader with strong design instincts, solid analytical capabilities, and a proven track record of delivering quality designs that delight customers. This is a hands-on Individual Contributor Director role, reporting directly to our Chief Design Officer. You will be responsible for e-2-e experience design on our product (e.g., navigation structure, UX paradigms) as well as feature design from concept to execution (e.g., page layouts, interaction design, IA, visuals, etc.).

Your Impact
  • Engage directly with customers to understand their needs and translate them into requirements and designs – in partnership with a cross-functional team of product managers and engineers.
  • Develop a strong UX/UI vision for the Northbeam platform, advocating for excellent design and understanding its impact on development.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high fidelity designs to communicate how the Northbeam product should work.
  • Iteratively deliver and enhance products that empower Northbeam’s customers to excel in their jobs, helping marketers extract actionable insights from Northbeam’s rich data.
  • Mentor other designers and create and nurture partnerships with brand and marketing teams.
What You Bring
  • 12+ years of relevant product design experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in design related field with experience giving and receiving design critique.
  • A professional portfolio demonstrating strategic, conceptual, and visual excellence in handling complex, data-heavy interfaces.
  • Expert-level knowledge of industry design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
  • A clear point of view. You can see beyond incremental features and lead from vision to execution. You can translate large-scale problems into intuitive and clean user experiences.
  • Extensive UX experience working in a B2B business with enterprise customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver UX and UI prototypes for validation and implementation.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with marketing, advertising, or eCommerce
  • You excel at distilling and articulating complex concepts, data models, and workflows into clear, user-friendly designs and presentations.
  • You’ve delivered UX and UI prototypes repeatedly—validating assumptions, refining based on feedback, and driving seamless implementation.
  • You’ve designed enterprise-grade products, balancing business goals with customer needs.
  • You have experience with game design, storyboarding, participatory design, motion/entertainment related design or other related methods to drive e-2-e vision.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
