Primary Purpose
Shapes reliability strategies for major systems by integrating predictive technologies, condition monitoring, and advanced analytics. Ensures programs deliver measurable improvements in uptime, maintenance cost reduction, and safety compliance, supporting long-term operational resilience.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads reliability efforts to proactively minimize equipment failures, extend asset life cycles, and align with the organization's sustainability and compliance goals.
  • Spearheads detailed root cause analyses for equipment failures, developing and implementing robust corrective and preventive actions.
  • Proactively tracks reliability performance and progress; develops key performance indicators and metrics; develops statistical models and performs analysis to identify trends, track progress, and inform strategic decisions.
  • Develops, documents, and disseminates maintenance strategies and best practices to drive operational efficiency; leads efforts to standardize procedures across the organization to facilitate consistent implementation.
  • Develops and implements comprehensive reliability programs tailored to the unique operational needs of the organization; integrates advanced analytics and predictive modeling to ensure peak performance and adaptability to changing energy demands.
  • Interfaces with purchasing and suppliers to ensure reliability requirements are included in specifications and contracts; reviews vendor test data.
  • May participate in the evaluation of major reliability technology investments and programs.
  • Acts as a lead on internal audits of reliability practices and compliance with standards and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

External Qualifications
Education

  • Typically requires a 4 year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Experience

  • Typically requires 10 years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Reliability Engineering - Applying scientific know-how to a component, product, plant, or process in order to ensure that it performs its intended function, without failure, for the required time duration in a specified environment.
  • Root Cause Analysis - The process of discovering the root causes of problems in order to identify appropriate solutions.
  • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) - Identifying potential failure modes of a product or process, assess their potential impacts, and prioritize them based on severity, likelihood, and detectability in order to address and mitigate risks and to enhance reliability and performance.
  • Data Analysis - Proficiency in using statistical and analytical tools to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed decisions to improve processes.
  • Condition Monitoring - The process of monitoring a particular condition in machinery to identify changes that could indicate a developing fault.
  • Predictive Maintenance - The use of data-driven, proactive maintenance methods that are designed to analyze the condition of equipment and help predict when maintenance should be performed.
  • Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) - Conducting a proactive maintenance that aims to optimize the reliability and performance of assets and equipment.
  • Continuous Improvement - An ongoing effort to improve processes, systems, and practices by regularly assessing performance and implementing incremental changes.
  • Asset Management - A systematic process of developing, operating, maintaining, upgrading, and disposing of assets in the most cost-effective manner (including all costs, risks and performance attributes).
  • Reliability Testing - The process of evaluating the dependability of an asset under various conditions, aiming to identify potential failures and improve asset reliability.
