  • Summary:

    The Principal Storage Cloud Engineer I is tasked with collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, test, expand, implement, monitor, and document cloud services used in the product. The role focuses on driving improvement projects around deployment, security, and performance while supporting engineering tasks including scripting, automation, and code reviews.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide support to Engineering teams with high attention to detail.
    • Research, analyze, and document findings.
    • Coach and review the work of other team members.
    • Design, build, and deliver cloud storage solutions, hosted services, and underlying software infrastructure.
    • Support and troubleshoot scalability, high availability, performance, monitoring, backup, and restorations of different environments.
    • Assist with deployment, automation, and security of cloud servers hosting our applications.
    • Review, document, and implement security policies on cloud infrastructure.
    • Ensure proactive diagnostics and monitoring of cloud infrastructure are in place.
    • Architect automation solutions for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
    • Maintain awareness of PaaS, IaaS, and related technology trends and their impact on the product.

    Required Skills:

    • Ability to manage projects and processes independently with limited supervision.
    • Deep understanding of the entire storage stack, from hardware to virtualization.
    • Adaptability to new technology/processes as per business requirements.
    • Strong knowledge of Private Cloud Infrastructure Environments, including Data Centers, Hardware Provisioning, Asset Tracking, SaltStack Configuration, and Kubernetes Administration.
    • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Python, C, Go, and Rust.
    • Knowledge of System Administration for FreeBSD and Linux servers utilizing OpenZFS.
    • Ability to work constructively and independently under stress and pressure in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills for positive interaction with colleagues and external contacts.
    • Ability to manage competing priorities and multi-task while producing high-quality work.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and technical skills including networking and security design.
    • Proficient with relevant software development tools including version control, build processes, debuggers, and test frameworks.
    • Experience with Cloud infrastructure for deployment and monitoring of secure and scalable environments.

    Educational/Vocational/Previous Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent business experience.
    • 5+ years of relevant experience.
    • Preferred: Experience in Automation architecture development and maintenance.
