A Little About Us:
Digital Transformation is a highly critical initiative for Yahoo Mail and Communications Org. As a part of the effort, we are modernizing our current tech stack on public cloud while building new cloud-native components, systems and tools to support wide range of core features and functionality. Yahoo Mail is the second largest Email provider in the world with very large number of highly active users, and thus very high throughput and scale. We need highly qualified engineers to make critical contributions to Digital Transformation and next generation of Yahoo Mail tech stack.
A Lot About You:
You are a self-starter with a passion for creating software systems, infrastructure and platforms on public cloud at scale. You have passion to improve the experience for millions of Yahoo Mail users around the world. You are comfortable working in a dynamic environment, with the ability to adapt to new technologies and learnings, and to prioritize multiple tasks and challenges in order to keep pace with an innovative and changing product and technical landscape. Your strong technical background, innovation and clear communication skills will serve you well in this demanding role, as will your comfort working with our high-energy team.
Your Day:

  • Design and develop robust, highly scalable streaming systems and infrastructure on public cloud platforms.
  • Lead and mentor junior software engineers, fostering their technical growth and driving project execution.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support a wide range of product and application needs, including Mail Classification, Entity Extraction, Summarization, and Spam Filtering, leveraging our streaming platform.
  • Work effectively in both individual and team settings within an Agile development framework.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous learning through active participation in design discussions and code reviews.


You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field required.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in software systems development, with at least 5 years specifically focused on designing and building streaming platforms or infrastructure on public cloud environments (GCP highly preferred).
  • Demonstrated expertise in Java programming and strong experience with stream processing and messaging technologies such as Google Cloud Dataflow, Apache Flink, Google Cloud Pub/Sub, Apache Kafka, or similar.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML algorithms, techniques, development, and deployment workflows.
  • Solid understanding of DevOps principles, tools, and technologies (e.g., CI/CD, Terraform, Kubernetes).
  • Strong foundational knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
  • Proactive and self-driven approach to taking on new initiatives and challenges.
  • Adaptable and eager to learn in a dynamic business and product environment.

The compensation for this position ranges from $128,250.00 - $299,375.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
