Job Title: Principal Product Manager 

Department: Product Delivery 

About the Role

The Principal Product Manager (PM) is a senior individual contributor accountable for achieving defined goals. This person should have a deep understanding of company and product team initiatives, using them to shape product line, domain, and roadmap objectives. They are responsible for setting measurable goals, tracking progress, and evaluating product and project success based on how effectively they advance company and team priorities. They are responsible for shaping and executing strategic cross domain/ cross product line initiatives. Principal PMs set direction for complex product areas, aligning cross-functional teams around shared solutions and balancing long-term vision with near-term delivery.

Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the Principal PM identifies opportunities, defines multi-year strategies, and drives execution of solutions that meet user needs, market demands, and business objectives. This role requires deep expertise in the healthcare and social care ecosystem, strong stakeholder influence, and the ability to guide the evolution of Unite Us’ platform and product portfolio.

In addition to owning critical product areas, Principal PMs act as thought leaders, influencing company-wide strategy, engaging with external stakeholders, and mentoring other product managers to elevate  product practices across the organization and  influencing the product team to elevate actual product solutions.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the strategy, planning, and execution for high-impact product areas, ensuring alignment with Unite Us’ mission and company objectives.
  • Define and communicate multi-year product strategies, balancing long-term vision with short-term execution.
  • Connect product outcomes to business impact by partnering with GTM teams to ensure product strategies support measurable customer adoption, retention, and revenue growth.
  • Continuously gather and synthesize customer, competitive, and market intelligence to anticipate trends and shape product direction
  • Drive organizational change to ensure successful adoption of product strategies and outcomes
  • Anticipate and mitigate product, regulatory, and operational risks to ensure compliant and resilient product delivery
  • Identify and prioritize the most critical problems to solve using user insights, market research, regulatory requirements, and business goals.
  • Drive product discovery with cross-functional teams to shape solutions that are user-centered, technically feasible, and market differentiators.
  • Lead end-to-end product execution, ensuring delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions through close alignment with engineering, design, sales, product marketing, customer success, operations, and compliance.
  • Establish success metrics, track progress, and communicate results to internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including executives.
  • Influence company-wide product priorities and contribute to portfolio-level trade-off decisions.
  • Serve as a thought leader and subject matter expert, representing Unite Us with clients, partners, and in industry or policy forums.
  • Mentor and coach other product managers, contributing to the growth of the product organization and the evolution of best practices.
  • Contribute to the evolution of product management practices, frameworks, and processes to improve efficiency, quality and outcomes across teams.

You’re a great fit for this role if:

  • 8+ years of product management experience in healthcare technology, with proven success owning and scaling mission-critical, interoperability-enabled platforms and data infrastructure. 
  • Demonstrated leadership in defining multi-year product strategy that aligns with organizational goals, market trends, and regulatory shifts.
  • Deep expertise with healthcare data and interoperability standards (EHRs, HL7, FHIR, USCDI, Gravity Project, CMS standards) and a track record of driving enterprise-grade integrations across payers, providers, government systems, CBOs, and third-party developers.
  • Hands-on experience designing and scaling healthcare APIs (REST, FHIR, HL7) and developer platforms; demonstrated ability to own developer portals, partner integration programs, or API ecosystems.
  • Experience with access management, healthcare/social care interoperability, and API design in a SaaS environment.
  • Experience with Medicaid programs, value-based care models, and government-funded care programs (e.g., 1115 waivers), and ability to translate policy and regulatory requirements into scalable product capabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of social determinants of health (SDoH) and their role in care coordination, population health, and equity-focused programs.
  • Proven ability to influence executives, customers, and external partners; history of representing product strategy in government, regulatory, or policy forums, or influencing industry standards bodies (e.g., HL7, NCQA, CMS).
  • Strong analytical skills and hands-on proficiency working directly with healthcare data using SQL, Python, or BI tools; comfort reading and validating FHIR resources and HL7 messages.
  • History of driving adoption and measurable impact across complex, multi-stakeholder ecosystems (health systems, state agencies, community organizations).
  • Experience mentoring and developing product managers at all levels; contributing to the evolution of product management practices across the organization.

Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • This position is remote, U.S. based. 
  • This position may require 5% travel
  • The target pay range for this role is: $160,000-$185,000. This salary range represents our target hiring range for this role. The proposed salary will be dependent on the candidate's skills, experience, and competencies, as well as location.
  • All team members will be required to pass a background check which includes criminal, employment, and education verification
