Epirus' flagship product, Leonidas, is a software-defined system built using intelligent power management techniques which allow power-hungry systems to do more with less.

We are looking for a highly motivated Principal Process Improvement Engineer that will lead a cross functional team of engineering, operations, and quality to deliver special projects focused on process improvements with short timelines.  This role can be defined as a pressure cooker for advanced cross functional process development and needs someone who is emotionally balanced under high stress situations.

The Principal Engineer will lead project teams covering multiple technical areas including project management, risk management, six sigma, inter-departmental communications, and provide regular inputs to VP leaders. The Principal Engineer will work independently with minimal direction but get buy-in from peers and set strategy across functions specific to process improvements.

Requires concise communication, proficiency in process improvement, knowledge of emerging tools like Palantir Foundry, and risk management.  The ideal candidate should be able to teach new team members and be a role model for career development.

Responsibilities:
  • Report to the Vice President of Process Improvement and Quality
  • Define project scope, timelines, and deliverables; ensure execution aligns with business goals
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, finance and business development to ensure process alignment
  • Identify technical risks early and develop mitigation strategies to keep projects on track
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership
  • Leverage engineering knowledge to guide architecture decisions and ensure technical feasibility
  • Drive continuous improvement in workflows, tools, and methodologies to boost efficiency and quality
 Basic Qualifications:
  • 8 years of experience with a Bachelors degree
  • Expert with JIRA, Confluence
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Demonstratable experience leading both software and hardware projects
  • Familiarity with Palantir Foundry
  • Collaborative; capable of working across all levels of the organization
  • Organized; comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Masters degree

ITAR REQUIREMENTS:

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. Learn more about the ITAR here.

At Epirus, you’ll work with technical peers and great people—and get first crack at some of the defining technology challenges of our time. Here, “impossible” is just a challenge. We're a diverse, fast-growing team of change-makers fueling the future of energy with revolutionary solutions. Join us and rewrite the rules.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
