Role Summary 

Candescent is transforming digital banking with a modern, AI-powered platform that empowers financial institutions to deliver smarter, faster, and more personalized customer experiences 

We are seeking a talented Principal Engineer - Developer Experience to lead the design, development, and evolution of our Developer Experience and Marketplace ecosystem. You will drive architectural decisions for developer experience, partner integrations & extensibility across our banking platform, ensuring security, scalability, and modern user experiences. This is a technical leadership role requiring deep expertise in integrations, user experience and scalable platforms. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Execute Candescent’s identity vision aligned with product and platform strategy. 

  • Partner with Product and Engineering to design secure, compliant, and scalable offerings. 

  • Lead architecture, design, and implementation of market leading developer and marketplace experiences. 

  • Collaborate with product, security, and engineering teams to deliver seamless, secure experiences  

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards for financial services 

  • Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and drive best practices in secure identity management 

 

Requirements 

 

 

Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent

  • 12+ years in the tech industry, focusing on developer tools, platforms, APIs, and SaaS, with product integration through portals. 

  • 5+ years in technical leadership, working with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, design, docs, etc.). 

  • Proven track record in building developer portals, API platforms, or developer ecosystems. 

  • Experience working with clients, professional services, or external developers (e.g., partners, open-source communities). 

 

Technical Skills: 

  • Deep knowledge of API design principles (REST, GraphQL, gRPC) and documentation standards (OpenAPI, Swagger). 

  • Familiarity with developer experience best practices: SDKs, toolkits, simulators, quick starts, tutorials, etc. 

  • Familiarity with UI design systems and UI frameworks ex: React Js or Next Js 

  • Experience with CI/CD, DevOps tools, or API lifecycle management (e.g., Postman, Apigee). 

  • Proficient in web technologies (JavaScript, TypeScript, Node, Python, etc.). 

  • Familiar with cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, Azure). 

 

Communication: 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both internal and external communications. 

  • Ability to promote developer tools and act as a bridge between Candescent and developer communities. 

  • Experience with community-building, hackathons, and developer outreach programs is a plus. 

 

Strategic & Leadership Skills: 

  • Ability to define and guide a vision and roadmap for developer experience. 

  • Experience setting and tracking KPIs and metrics for developer engagement, portal adoption, or API usage. 

  • Skilled in aligning with internal teams (engineering, product, marketing, support) to meet client and vendor needs. 

  • Strong understanding of the developer ecosystem, trends, and competitive landscape.
