You will play an important role in electrical and embedded system design, contributing to engineering best practices, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative consumer products from concept through high-volume production. This position requires solid technical judgment, willingness to support and guide junior engineers, and a passion for building robust, scalable designs.
Key Responsibilities

  • Apply strong expertise in power electronics and embedded systems to inform design decisions and trade-offs.
  • Collaborate across cross-functional teams (ME, ID, Product, Manufacturing) to ensure alignment and strong execution.
  • Follow and help reinforce engineering best practices in schematic design, PCB layout, firmware integration, and validation.
  • Participate in design reviews and technical discussions, helping identify issues and improve quality.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior engineers through collaboration and informal mentoring.
  • Identify risks and help drive resolution, ensuring product performance, reliability, and compliance.
  • Support DFM/DFT and scalable design principles, working with manufacturing and suppliers.

Technical & Program Responsibilities
  • Design and develop consumer product electronics from concept through production and sustaining support.
  • Perform schematic capture and contribute to PCB design.
  • Support DVT (design verification testing), EMC, and regulatory compliance (UL, FCC, CE, IEC).
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing and cross-functional teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Support prototype development, testing, and validation, including interpretation of results and design iteration.
  • Assist with field issue investigation and root cause analysis, contributing to continuous product improvement.
  • Work with suppliers and contract manufacturers to support high-quality, cost-effective implementations.

What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong technical track record.
  • Solid experience with power electronics (AC/DC, motor control, thermal systems) and embedded systems design.
  • Strong experience in analog and digital design, including schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Ability to contribute to complex programs and work well within cross-functional teams.
  • Experience delivering high-volume consumer products from concept to production.
  • Good understanding of DFM, DFT, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

How You Contribute
  • Apply strong technical judgment in your day-to-day work.
  • Build credibility through solid execution and collaboration.
  • Support and mentor junior engineers informally.
  • Help teams work through ambiguity toward the right solutions.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
