About the company
Our client is an energy technology company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Take charge of creating a laboratory test and integration platform from a blank slate, acting as the first dedicated hire for that discipline. The work involves setting requirements with little guidance, collaborating with several engineering groups, and carrying hardware efforts from initial concept through final bring-up.
What you'll do
- Design and stand up a hardware-in-the-loop rig from scratch, choosing the right commercial platforms and getting the full electrical setup running.
- Emulate a plant's control environment in the lab by modeling the signals and devices that the controller would normally see.
- Work closely with software, controls, simulation and electrical colleagues so the rig mirrors real behavior and allows repeatable, iterative testing.
- Specify the electrical and software interface requirements that the test environment must satisfy.
- Set the overall approach to electrical verification, including procedures, automated tooling, data capture and troubleshooting practices.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- 10+ years of electrical engineering experience.
- A history of creating hardware-in-the-loop or automated test rigs yourself, from early design through commissioning, rather than only operating existing ones.
- Hands-on experience integrating electrical systems in demanding hardware settings such as aerospace, defense, energy or industrial products.
- A BS in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with solid fundamentals that will be assessed on-site.
- Practical experience building and debugging data acquisition and test platforms from commercial vendors.
- Experience writing test automation in a tool such as LabVIEW or Python.
- Ability to work independently and shape requirements when direction is unclear.
- Must be a US Person due to export control requirements.
Bonus points
- Experience leading integration efforts that span hardware, embedded code, controls and instrumentation.
- Background in real-time simulation or FPGA-based test equipment.
