About the Team:

The Facilities team ensures that every operation across the site is “go” at all times, supporting everything from power and utilities to highly specialized machines like industrial 3D printers. Our 1 million square foot headquarters is complex: one structure, but functionally 20 mini factories under one roof. That complexity brings unmatched opportunities to grow your skills through cross-training and ownership of specialized systems. With rapid expansion and development of the facility, we’re helping build a truly state-of-the-art work environment. This team is deeply embedded in both planning and execution, brought in early to shape the physical assets that will support scaled operations.

About the Role:

The Preventive Maintenance Technician will establish and execute a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all facility assets across our manufacturing campus. This role focuses on building systems and infrastructure including HVAC equipment, lighting, electrical panels, plumbing systems, fire safety equipment, and other non-production assets that support factory operations.

Program Development and Execution:

• Develop and maintain a structured preventive maintenance schedule for all facility assets, establishing appropriate inspection frequencies and maintenance tasks based on manufacturer recommendations and industry best practices.

• Create detailed work instructions and checklists for routine maintenance activities to ensure consistency and thoroughness.

• Schedule and coordinate preventive maintenance activities with the facilities team and outside contractors, ensuring timely completion of all planned work.

• Document all preventive maintenance activities in the computerized maintenance management system, maintaining accurate records of inspections, repairs, and equipment history.

Asset Management and Documentation:

• Build and maintain a comprehensive inventory of all facility assets requiring preventive maintenance, including equipment specifications, locations, criticality ratings, and maintenance requirements.

• Develop asset tagging and identification systems to ensure clear tracking and documentation.

• Compile manufacturer manuals, warranty information, and technical specifications for all facility equipment, creating an organized reference library for the maintenance team.

• Update asset records as equipment is added, modified, or decommissioned throughout the facility.

• Analyze equipment failure trends and maintenance history to identify opportunities for program improvements or equipment upgrades.

• Generate monthly reports on preventive maintenance completion rates, upcoming work, and program performance metrics.

Coordination and Support:

• Serve as the point of contact for preventive maintenance scheduling, coordinating with production teams to minimize disruption while ensuring critical maintenance is completed.

• Communicate upcoming maintenance activities to relevant stakeholders and adjust plans based on operational needs.

• Monitor inventory levels and reorder as needed to prevent delays in scheduled work.

• Process vendor quotes and purchase requisitions for maintenance supplies and services.

• Support emergency maintenance activities by providing equipment documentation, maintenance history, and technical resources to troubleshooting efforts.

• Participate in facility inspections and audits, ensuring preventive maintenance records meet regulatory and compliance requirements.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
