About the Role

Heritage Holding is seeking a high-caliber and entrepreneurial operator to serve as the leader of one of our fast-growing platforms. This is a unique, high-impact opportunity for an entrepreneurial MBA graduate who aspires to lead and grow a business while gaining hands-on experience in private equity operations, M&A, and long-term value creation.

The VP of Operations will be an early platform-level hire and will serve as the Heritage leader scaling a business from ~$2m EBITDA to $20m EBITDA within 1-2 years. Our platforms operate in blue-collar and service industries, so this role is best suited to someone who is energized by hands-on, operationally intensive businesses and comfortable working closely with field teams, tradespeople, and owner-operators. This role offers accelerated exposure to entrepreneurial management, the ability to learn directly from Heritage leadership on rapidly scaling a platform through M&A, and the opportunity to transition into a CEO, other C-suite role, or Entrepreneur in Residence at Heritage Holding.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Execution & Operational Leadership

  • Provide hands-on operational leadership across the platform including leading acquisition integration, strengthening decision-making processes, and improving systems.

  • Partner with business owners to support day-to-day operations and platform-wide scaling initiatives.

  • Help define and execute a shared integration and operational playbook across the platform.

  • Serve as a problem-solver who addresses organizational, operational, and systems-related challenges.

  • Support the evaluation, selection, and rollout of core business systems, including ERP and other operational platforms.

  • Bring structure and clarity to processes, reporting, and performance management without removing autonomy at the company level.

  • Act as a trusted thought partner to senior leadership at Heritage on strategy, systems, and operational decisions.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Experience:

  • MBA (recent graduate or several years post-MBA) from a top program.

  • Direct experience in blue-collar or service industries—such as home services, trades, construction, field services, logistics, manufacturing, or distribution—is strongly preferred. Candidates who have operated, advised, or grown businesses of this type will be prioritized.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent EQ, communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Comfort with ambiguity and fast-paced environments.

  • Proven ability to lead projects from ideation to execution.

  • Strong financial modeling, Excel, and data analysis skills.

Traits:

  • Entrepreneurial spirit and passion for small business.

  • High integrity and a low-ego, team-first attitude.

  • Strong bias for action with a builder’s mindset.

Career Path

This role is intentionally designed as a launchpad to future leadership opportunities within Heritage Holding’s ecosystem. A high-performing VP of Operations might transition into:

  • Executive (including CEO) role at portfolio companies

  • Investing role at Heritage Holding

  • Search fund entrepreneur with the backing of Heritage Holding

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
