As we continue to grow, particularly in the lifestyle and entertainment space, we're looking for a creative, detail-oriented, and collaborative Photo Editor to join our expanding Visuals team.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a team that's redefining visual storytelling at Yahoo. The Photo Editor will work closely with writers, reporters, editors, and designers to conceptualize and execute compelling photo-driven content across lifestyle, entertainment, and news verticals. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced newsroom environment and brings a strong visual point of view, especially in entertainment and lifestyle media.

What You’ll Do:

• Collaborate with editors, writers, and reporters to conceptualize and source photography for lifestyle, entertainment, and news content.

• Help visualize editorial features including red carpet events, cultural moments, and lifestyle features—playing a key role in shaping Yahoo News' coverage in these areas.

• Curate and create storytelling photo galleries, helping drive engagement through thoughtful, intentional image sets.

• Perform light photo editing, cropping, and optimization to ensure all visuals meet editorial and brand standards.

• Source and negotiate rights for photography, ensuring proper usage and copyright compliance.

• Manage photo requests efficiently and collaboratively, often on tight deadlines.

• Contribute to the evolution and consistency of Yahoo News’ visual identity across platforms.
   

What You Bring:

• 3–6 years of experience in photo editing within a media or publishing environment.

• Strong experience within the lifestyle and entertainment space; familiarity with newsroom workflows is highly valued.

• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Canva, with the ability to create photo illustrations and visual assets quickly and accurately.

• Demonstrated experience curating and aggregating imagery with a clear editorial intent.

• A solid understanding of copyright laws and best practices in editorial photography.

• Familiarity working within a CMS 

• A collaborative and flexible mindset with strong communication skills—comfortable working with cross-functional teams.

• Excellent organizational skills, an eye for visual detail, and a deep commitment to delivering quality content.

The compensation for this position ranges from $72,750.00 - $151,250.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
