Provide pharmaceutical services to inpatients and outpatients including compounding and dispensing medications, interpreting and entering physician orders, monitoring stat medications, preparing complex admixtures, checking others' work, and serving as a drug information resource while following SOPs and professional standards.
Note: This is a continuous recruitment requisition for Part-Time Staff Pharmacists at Hoag Irvine. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis for openings across multiple shifts as needed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides pharmaceutical services to the hospital’s inpatients and outpatients.
- Compounds and dispenses pharmaceutical preparations and acts as a source of drug information to all members of the health care team.
- Accurately reviews and accurately interprets physician orders.
- Enters medication orders into the computer.
- Monitors for stat medications.
- Checks for accuracy of tasks performed by others.
- Always able to prepare complex pharmaceutical admixtures.
- Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct.
- Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Graduation from a pharmacy program with at least a B.S. degree required
- Pharmacy experience or graduation from an ASHP-accredited residency program preferred
- Fulfills mandatory stroke education requirements per certification agency
