POSITION SUMMARY

This role sits at the center of the People function, driving how we operate, evolve, and deliver at scale. You'll serve as the connective tissue across People sub-teams, bringing rigor, clarity, and momentum to the systems, programs, and initiatives that make the function run. As a builder and strategic operator, you'll shape the infrastructure and culture of how the People team works, while leading high-visibility, high-impact transformation projects on behalf of People leadership.

This is a remote role, with occasional travel to our Mountain View HQ required. The New York Metro base salary range for this full-time position is $201,000-$246,000, plus equity and benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Function-wide operations: Own the operating model for the People team — including cross-functional cadences, reporting, dashboards, and the systems that support how we work.
  • Core People programs management: Lead end-to-end planning and execution of compensation cycles, performance reviews, and engagement survey activation.
    • Note:  Not all People moments; sub-teams still need to be accountable for their own execution.
  • Transformation & special projects: Drive selective, high-priority, cross-cutting initiatives on behalf of People leadership, including org design, process redesign, and strategic buildouts.
  • Sub-team operations: Serve as a central steward of project management, intake, and operational support across People sub-teams.
  • AI & automation: Identify and implement opportunities to modernize People workflows through AI tools, automation, and systems improvements.
  • Cross-functional liaison: Serve as the primary operational connector between the People team and cohorts like ELT, Finance, Legal, and IT — particularly on transformation initiatives.
  • Documentation & knowledge management: Own how the People team captures, stores, and shares its playbooks, SOPs, and program documentation — building a knowledge infrastructure that scales.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • A systems thinker who also executes — you can zoom out to see the full picture and zoom in to move work forward.
  • Experienced in HR/People functions, with a track record of building infrastructure and programs that scale.
  • Comfortable owning ambiguous, cross-functional work with senior stakeholders.
  • Energized by transformation
  • 7+ years of experience in HR, People Operations, or related fields
  • Experience using data and data-driven insights to support the business by offering solutions in line with values and business objectives
  • Change management skills
  • Passion for creating healthy, inclusive organizations where culture is a competitive advantage for a diverse employee population

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
