People Operations & Payroll Specialist

Eudia is seeking a highly detail-oriented People Operations & Payroll Specialist to join our growing People & Talent team. This role brings HR operations, onboarding, and payroll together in one seat: you'll own Rippling, our people platform, run onboarding for every new Eudian, and keep payroll operations accurate and on time. You'll report directly to and partner closely with the People & Talent Lead, working alongside hiring managers and Finance. This role is onsite in our Palo Alto office five days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own Rippling as our people platform end to end, keeping HR, payroll, benefits, and employee data accurate, well configured, and easy for every employee to use.
  • Manage Rippling cases from opening to closure, working closely with Rippling representatives to resolve issues quickly and keep stakeholders informed.
  • Run payroll operations accurately and on time, and partner with People & Talent Lead and Finance on approvals.
  • Manage payroll tax registrations and agency notices as we hire in new states and localities in Rippling.
  • Own the new hire onboarding experience, from offer acceptance through the first 30 days.
  • Lead new hire orientation and set every new Eudian up for success from day one.
  • Partner with the People & Talent Lead and hiring managers to design first-week experiences and role-specific onboarding plans.
  • Complete I-9 and E-Verify on time and keep onboarding documentation audit-ready.
  • Manage offboarding, ensuring every change is accurate through the final paycheck.
  • Keep employee data clean through regular audits, and build reports for headcount, audits, and leadership requests.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions about payroll, benefits, and our people systems.
  • Support ad hoc projects and initiatives for the People & Talent function as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in HR operations, payroll, or people systems, preferably in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Rippling or a similar HRIS, such as ADP, Gusto, or Paylocity.
  • Experience running new hire onboarding and orientation, with working knowledge of I-9 and E-Verify requirements.
  • Working knowledge of payroll operations and payroll tax registrations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a track record of catching errors before they reach employees.
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, including lookups, pivot tables, and reconciliations.
  • Sound judgment and discretion with confidential employee and compensation data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer service mindset.

Compensation: $85,000 to $100,000 per year

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
