Morton Wealth is looking for a people-driven and organizationally minded People and Culture Specialist to join our Human Capital team.  This is a newly created, full-time, in office role – one that reflects how seriously we take our commitment to building a place where people genuinely flourish.

We are an RIA that manages roughly $3.5 billion in assets across 1,300+ families.  Our investment approach is distinctly not "Wall Street" — we are willing to look beyond traditional investments when alternative approaches more closely match our philosophy of risk management, true diversification, and cash flow. In addition to our unique investment approach, we offer comprehensive financial advice that aligns with traditional CFP® education as well as behavioral finance.

As our People and Culture Specialist, you will own the full arc of the talent lifecycle – from attracting and selecting great people, to integrating them into the firm, to developing their skills and knowledge over time.  You will also serve as the steward of our OKR and career development infrastructure, ensuring that the systems and processes that support our people strategy are running smoothly and consistently across every team.  At Morton, we believe that the experience of working here should be as thoughtfully designed as the experience of being our client – and this role sits at the center of that commitment.

This is a broad and meaningful role, and we are committed to investing in the right person — someone who brings genuine curiosity and strong foundational skills, and who is excited to grow into the full scope of what this role can become.

What You'll Do

  • Talent Acquisition
    • Execute the full recruiting cycle for entry and mid-level roles, including job postings, resume review, candidate screening, interview coordination and candidate correspondence – ensuring a consistent and best in class experience at every stage.
    • Support senior level searches through research, initial outreach and interview coordination.
    • Manage our applicant tracking system, ensuring candidate records are current and accessible.
  • Onboarding and Integration
    • Own and execute our structured onboarding program for every new team member, ensuring a consistent and immersive experience from day one through the 90 day milestone.
    • Coordinate and facilitate the first week onboarding experience, covering cultural immersion, firm wide relationships and Morton Wealth’s values and mindset.
  • Learning and Development
    • Serve as the primary content owner for Morton Wealth University – our internal e-learning platform – developing and maintaining training content in partnership with department leads across the firm.
    • Partner with team leads to identify skill gaps and design targeted learning experiences to address them.
  • OKR and Career Development Process Support
    • Monitor OKR update cadence across all teams, following up with team leads as needed to ensure objectives are current, properly articulated and meaningfully aligned with each team member’s stated development priorities.
    • Support team leads in preparing for semi-annual and annual Career Development meetings, ensuring OKRs and growth scorecards are ready for review prior to each cycle.
  • Leadership Retreat Support
    • Attend all quarterly leadership retreats, serving as the primary note taker and ensuring key decisions, action items and commitments are accurately captured and distributed to the leadership team following each session.
    • Serve as the onsite point of contact for all logistical components of quarterly leadership retreats – including food and beverage delivery, room setup and supply readiness – ensuring that everything planned and coordinated in advance by the Executive Coordinator is executed smoothly on the day of the retreat.

Who You Are

You’re the kind of person who genuinely lights up when you help someone find the right opportunity – or when a new team member tells you their first week exceeded their expectations.  You’re organized without being rigid, curious without being scattered, and you have a natural ability to build relationships across all levels of an organization.  You take pride in the details without losing sight of the bigger picture and you find real satisfaction in making others successful.

You’re drawn to this role not just because of what it is today, but because of what it can become.  You see a newly created role at a growing firm as an opportunity to build something meaningful – and you’re excited by the idea of growing into expanded responsibility over time.

Qualities We’re Looking For

  • Two to five years of experience in human capital, talent acquisition, learning and development or a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously without losing sight of the quality of the experience being delivered.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent Morton Wealth authentically and compellingly to candidates, new hires and team members.
  • A genuine interest in the wealth management industry and a commitment to developing the industry knowledge needed to recruit and develop talent effectively in this space.
  • Comfort with technology, including HRIS platforms, LMS tools and applicant tracking systems – experience with Rippling and Rise Articulate is a plus, but not required.

Schedule

  • Full time, 40 hours per week.
  • In office Monday through Thursday, with flexibility for at home deep work days, pre-approved remote hours.

Our Offer

  • A newly created role with real opportunity to shape how it grows over time.
  • A collaborative, people first culture where your development is taken seriously.
  • Competitive compensation, retirement and health benefits.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
