Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.

On the Waymo Marketing team, you will help to connect people with the magic and impact of Waymo's autonomous driving technology. Our team has the unique opportunity to not only grow Waymo's brand from the ground up, but to also build societal acceptance for autonomous driving technology for the first time in history. We build thoughtful marketing strategy, positioning, messaging and creative assets to deliver messages that matter to our audience, communicated through anything from video content, to social media interactions, to immersive physical experiences. We also shape Waymo's go-to-market initiatives, helping to transform Waymo into a thriving business with a growing user base.

This role follows a hybrid work schedule and reports to Brand Partnerships Lead.

You will:

  • Negotiate: Engage and secure high ROI marketing partnerships across travel, hospitality, universities, and entertainment venues to establish brand awareness, product adoption, and top notch customer experiences
  • Create: Bring to life partnerships in creative ways that align Waymo’s business needs with partner audience passion points. Build out multi-channel marketing plans based on mutual audience and brand voice principles
  • Build Relationships: Represent Waymo as the key point of contact for a portfolio of partners, maximizing relationships with the partners’ extended network of affiliates and thought leaders
  • Measure Impact: Ensure all partnerships drive measurable and ongoing impact by providing consistent KPI reporting to guide future partnership strategies and decisions

You have:

  • 7+ years of experience in partner marketing, high-stakes negotiation, and large-scale activations in-house or in an agency environment for B2C brands
  • Proven track record leading complex business negotiations with positive results
  • Experience bringing to life multi-channel marketing partnerships and consumer promotions with significant brand and operational impact
  • Compelling verbal and written communication skills with standout strength building rapport, advocating for the business, and tailoring approaches to the audience
  • Dynamic, big picture strategic thinking coupled with detail-oriented, hands-on execution

We prefer:

  • Experience working at or directly with the hospitality, travel, education, and/or large scale venue partners
  • Familiarity and experience with the autonomous vehicle, automotive, or high-growth technology industry
  • Experience collaborating deeply with product and technical teams, ensuring all marketing initiatives are grounded in the reality of the technology and product capabilities
  • Understanding of brand safety and policy issues related to emerging technology

Travel:

  • Willingness to travel nationally and globally to assess market opportunities and build partner relationships

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
