These partnerships have a significant impact on Stripe and the products used by millions of our users.

What you’ll do

We are looking for a Partner Development Manager to own and grow priority payment-method partnerships, with a focus on strategic wallets, buy now, pay later (BNPL) providers, and related payment partners. You will manage day-to-day partner relationships, lead defined commercial and product initiatives, and work across Stripe to increase payment-method adoption and deliver better experiences for users.

This role requires sound commercial judgment, a structured approach to execution, and the ability to bring together internal and external stakeholders with different priorities. You will develop deep expertise in your partners and the payment-method ecosystem, using that context to identify opportunities, inform Stripe’s decisions, and execute initiatives that support Stripe’s product and business goals.

Responsibilities
  • Manage one or more priority payment-method partnerships, driving the execution of joint initiatives and launching new offerings that benefit Stripe users
  • Manage internal and external stakeholders with varying priorities, driving alignment on shared goals and ensuring structured partner and deal management rooted in clear milestones, performance metrics, and opportunities of mutual interest
  • Develop and grow Stripe’s relationships with partners, including their senior executives and leadership
  • Gather input from and coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders, including Risk, Legal, Product, and Engineering, to execute deals and related partner product initiatives
  • Bring an operationally focused mindset to relationship management, setting clear goals, running tight processes, and proactively identifying opportunities to improve execution
Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in strategic partnerships or business development, including 3+ years working in payments, fintech, or financial institutions, and 3+ years of experience negotiating commercial deals with financial and technology institutions
  • Experience leading commercial discussions or negotiations using established deal strategies and frameworks, with sound judgment about trade-offs and when to escalate
  • Experience owning partner relationships, channel or distribution initiatives, and/or cross-functional commercial programs from planning through execution, and working in a product-centric environment with meaningful internal and external dependencies
  • Ability to take initiative, handle ambiguity in a fast-moving organization, and thrive with a high level of autonomy and responsibility; strong verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders across a wide variety of functions
  • Technical acumen, including the ability to understand Stripe’s product portfolio and strategy and use this understanding to define requirements with partners and evaluate new partnership opportunities, along with interest in and intellectual curiosity about payments, economic infrastructure, and Stripe’s partners
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience in payments, payment methods, wallets, BNPL, or financial services

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
