Please note, this posting is to highlight joining Right Side Up's talent collective specifically and is not representing an internal full-time role, or a current opportunity with a client.

Right Side Up is a collective of premium marketing talent—with all of the marketing chops, and none of the agency fluff. We're trusted by the most respected early-stage ventures, the fastest-growing tech companies, and well-established Fortune 500 teams to do one thing better: Growth. We have over 1400+ clients including Stitch Fix, Sephora, Yelp, Sun Basket, Crunchbase, DoorDash, Calm, and more.

About The Role

We're seeking freelance Paid Social Marketers with deep fintech experience to own paid social strategy and execution for clients in regulated, high-consideration categories. This is a senior, hands-on specialty: we're looking for operators who are still building and optimizing in Meta themselves, at meaningful spend, inside businesses where creative review, compliance, and testing rigor are part of the job.

The work tends to be less about incremental account maintenance and more about taking channels from zero to one and proving what actually drives incremental volume.

Contract projects typically range from 10 to 40 hours per week, depending on client needs and project scope.

Responsibilities

    • Own day-to-day strategy and execution of paid social campaigns, primarily on Meta, across core products and audiences.

    • Drive efficient volume against aggressive growth targets, with a focus on improving downstream cost per acquisition or cost per funded customer rather than in-platform metrics alone.

    • Take channels from zero to one where needed, with a rigorous approach to testing, validating, and scaling new campaign structures over a 6 to 12 week horizon.

    • Set clear expectations and success criteria before launching new initiatives, and run them end to end.

    • Partner with data science and analytics teams on incrementality measurement, including geo-based experimentation, beyond standard conversion tracking.

    • Continuously optimize creative, targeting, and campaign structure, and drive the creative testing agenda rather than executing briefs handed down from others.

    • Extend ongoing optimization into secondary channels where in scope, including YouTube and Trade Desk/OTT programmatic display.

    • Translate performance data into clear, prioritized recommendations for internal stakeholders.

    • Collaborate with paid search and broader paid media counterparts to align strategy and pacing across channels.

    • Navigate creative and compliance review processes without losing testing velocity.

Requirements

    • Senior Manager level or above, with substantial hands-on Meta experience building and optimizing campaigns in-platform, not directing an agency or a team that does the work.

    • Fintech experience required. Equivalent experience in another regulated, high-consideration financial services vertical will only be considered in exceptional cases.

    • Experience managing six figures per month in paid social spend, in an environment with the creative, compliance, and testing rigor of a mid-market or enterprise account rather than primarily SMB-scale accounts.

    • Proven track record taking a channel from zero to one, including setting up rigorous testing and validation frameworks.

    • Strong experimentation background, including working with data science on incrementality studies such as geo-experiments, not just standard A/B testing.

    • Comfortable connecting in-platform performance to business outcomes and unit economics.

    • Comfortable operating independently in a fast-moving, evolving organization.

    • Trade Desk/programmatic display, OTT, or Paid YouTube experience is nice to have.

Tools & Platforms

    • Meta Ads Manager, and familiarity with adjacent paid social platforms.

    • Programmatic and CTV/OTT platforms such as The Trade Desk.

    • Google Ads and YouTube for secondary channel work.

    • Analytics and measurement platforms for incrementality, attribution, and cohort analysis, such as GA4, Amplitude, Looker, Northbeam, Rockerbox, or Haus.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
