VP of Corporate Development
The VP, Corporate Development leads and drives the strategic direction for all M&A and corporate development activities. S/he will report to the CFO and be responsible for execution of prospective strategic initiatives for the company including financings, commercial partnerships, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions. The VP will build a pipeline and execute opportunities that will accelerate the growth of the company through strategic relationships. In this collaborative leadership role, the VP will partner closely with other leaders and executives across GumGum at various stages of the deal cycle including the executive office, finance & accounting, legal, HR, marketing, technology, etc.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategies and perform analysis to support decision-making for M&A, strategic partnerships and other related corporate strategic initiatives
- Lead the full corporate development life cycle and deal flow from new opportunity identification through approval process, including due diligence, deal negotiation and execution
- Partner and Collaborate with marketing to prepare relevant content and materials to share with partners that position the business with potential targets
- Manage internal and external partnerships and relations during the period of a transaction from formulation to execution.
- Work closely with various internal teams in the business in order to guarantee the smooth running of the execution process.
- Maintain an understanding of the business’s investment needs and endeavors to turn those needs into tangible engagements and proposals.
- Guarantee that all strategic decisions, notably M&A are robustly challenged and financially viable while simultaneously adhering to the business’s transaction standards
- Lead the development of M&A tools and processes as well as the creation of work plans and risk assessments for M&A prospects.
- Partner with the CFO to lead commercial and financial analysis that will inform sensitive M&A decision making.
- Partner with the Head of People Operations and CFO to assess operational human resources and finance investment strategies of the business and comparing these with the respective organizational structures and operating models to determine compatibility.
- Provide timely and objective financial/commercial analyses of prospective transactions. This is inclusive of structuring options for transactions and the review of potential strategic acquisitions options, disposals, and restructuring
- Prepare and/or present updates and reports for CEO, President, and Board
Minimum Qualifications
- MBA or master’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or any other related field, or equivalent experience
- At least 15+ years of working experience in an M&A or corporate development position in a highly competitive, fast-paced, and dynamic business environment
- Extensive experience and knowledge of accounting, capital management, valuation, legal, and M&A transactions
- Strong and demonstrated understanding of a corporate M&A process
- Adept and experienced at running complex merger and acquisition integrations and possess vast knowledge in equity buyouts
- A proven and successful track-record acting as a business developer with extensive prospecting of mergers and acquisitions for a business
- Extensive negotiation experience across a spectrum of commercial, strategic and M&A transactionsM&A / Commercial Development

- A proven leader with an ability to lead an M&A team through the entire life cycle of a merger or acquisition transaction
- Must have strong leadership, having an ability to form strong and meaningful relationships with others and an ability to influence top business leadership
- As a representative of the business to prospective mergers and acquisitions, the M&A Vice President must be an approachable and likeable individual who brings out a similar image of the business
- Project Management
- Strong project management methodology background, inclusive of schedule, scope, change management, risk management, planning and analysis
- Exceptionally strong organizational skills, detail oriented
- Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Communication and Collaboration
- Possesses exceptional communication skills, which will determine the clarity with which to convey information to other team members
- Collaboration skills with prospective business leadership, facilitating smooth merger or acquisition negotiations and improving the chances of transaction success
- Business, Finance, and Analytics
- Knowledge and expertise in the ad tech industry and landscape
- Exceptionally strong analytical, financial, and analytical skills
- Able to process raw information and data, translating it into actionable insights that lead to highly informed and accurate merger and acquisition decision-making
