Powderbed Fusion Supervisor

We're building an additive team that's ready to discover, develop, create, and operate the most advanced additive manufacturing technologies in the world. In order to do that, we need strong, driven technical leaders, project managers and operators.
As an early member of our small-scale additive manufacturing group you will be critical to building not only our processes and procedures but also building the culture of the team that operates our Laser Powder Bed Fusion (SLM / DMLS / DMLM) printers producing flight parts and the team that develops and introduces new additive technologies and techniques. You will operate the printers with a high degree of autonomy, learning all about our machines and technology and making critical decisions. Your input and feedback with be critical to keeping the team at the cutting edge. Your attention to detail and consistency will keep our machines operating at peak performance.
What you’ll do:
- Prioritizes, coordinates, and directs the powder-based additive manufacturing operations team, which includes laser powder bed fusion machines, EDMs, and post processing of prints
- Provides capacity support for the PBF (powder bed fusion) printers and post processes equipment
- Determines daily goals and objectives to meet production requirements in a fast-paced environment across multiple shifts
- Coordinates with supporting field service engineers to maximize machine uptime and that all preventive maintenance is performed safely and efficiently
- Develops and maintains standard operating procedures, work instructions, good laboratory practice standards
- Hires, develops, mentors, coaches, motivates and provides outstanding leadership for a growing team
- Identifies and supports efforts to improve processes and reduce cost
- Ensures safety compliance with all internal operations
What you Need to Know:
- 5+ years of experience in aerospace or other precision production environment, ISO, FAA, or FDA required
- 3+ year of experience working in an additive manufacturing environment; strong understanding of metal powdered based and post processes including de-powdering, build plate and support removal
- 3+ years of experience in a supervisory role managing technicians or non-exempt personnel
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experienced working in a fast paced and multi-shift environment, including weekend rotation
- Must be able to work in the factory environment daily
Nice to haves but not required – if you do not meet all of these criteria, you should still apply:
- Preferred Bachelor's degree in business or engineering field
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices, such as 5S or Six Sigma
