About Sketchy

Sketchy is a visual learning platform for students & professionals to effortlessly learn and recall information through art, storytelling, and spaced repetition. The company was born when four medical students began creating sketched stories to distinguish and memorize similarly named viruses, and they realized that the same learning methodologies could be used across a variety of subjects.

Since its inception in 2013, Sketchy has become the premiere learning destination for medical students around the world. It’s used by 1 in 2 medical students in the United States, has an alumni base of over 300,000 students, and helps students answer questions 77% faster than conventional teaching.

Sketchy is a TCG (The Chernin Group) portfolio company (joining other companies such as Headspace, Food52, Barstool Sports, and Crunchyroll) and a Reach Capital portfolio company (joining other start-up companies that bring a playfulness to learning).

About the Role:

Sketchy is growing quickly and so is the need to add to our People Ops team. We are looking for a People Operations Specialist to support all areas of Peoples Ops: performance management, full-cycle recruiting, onboarding, payroll, benefits, administrative tasks, and special projects assigned. You have a demonstrated ability to collaborate and partner well with multiple teams and a knack for attention to detail.

Note: While you will always have a seat to work from at our Los Angeles Headquarters, our transition to a remote-first company will allow you to work from the location of your choice in select states across the country. As travel and working conditions return back to “normal”, we will find opportunities to increasingly meet and collaborate in person.

Location:  This role is open to remote employees in select US states: California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington, and Washington, D.C.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be a partner to talent acquisition and help recruit and support our business growth plans
  • Review resumes, conduct preliminary screening, and help facilitate our interview process steps with hiring managers on an as-needed basis
  • Support general or day-to-day inquiries related to payroll, benefits, our policies and resolve in a timely manner
  • Primary lead administrator and manager of employee and contractor onboarding, ensuring a positive and efficient onboarding experience.
  • Manage all compliance responsibilities related to Federal and State requirements
  • Perform light administrative tasks in support of the people ops function, such as (but not limited to), updating org charts, employee handbook, preparing company-wide announcements, etc.
  • Create and constantly improve our People Operations processes, templates, and FAQs
  • Dive into insights collected from various surveys (onboarding, exits, engagement) and report on themes or trends on an ongoing basis
  • Develop strong relationships with team members and leverage insights to further our culture-building initiatives
  • Supports ad hoc projects and reports

 Preferred Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in Human Resources or People Operations
  • Demonstrated experience with People Operations technology platforms - Rippling a plus
  • Strong aptitude and interest in analyzing and generating data
  • Highly organized and great at prioritizing, multi-tasking, and follow up
  • High ethical standards and the ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality
  • Team player attitude, with the ability and interest to step into any projects
  • Adaptability to the work environment and ability to manage competing demands, dealing with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events
  • Understanding of US employment laws and regulations - at least enough to flag issues that might require additional analysis
  • The ability to flex and deal with ambiguity in a dynamic, fast-paced, high growth environment

What We Offer:

  • Competitive compensation plan
  • Innovative, high growth, and collaborative culture
  • Generous PTO policy
  • Fun team events (Monthly and virtual for now)
  • Great Benefits including Medical, dental, vision, 401k, and more
